How’s my squirrely girl?” ...... Providing optimistic perky happiness of possibilities? —- sure ..... deny deny deny.... no problems with his little angle —- HANNA LOVES DADDY! I’m guessing ‘Daddy’ will face up to the problems pretty soon....but for now - he prefers to deny them. Daddy thinks Hanna is an adorable child. Mommy knows Hanna is a nightmare. Hanna wants daddy and she will be able to do everything for his father even if she has to be a bad girl. She will ruin her mother's life and she doesn't mind it at all. Hanna will enjoy it. After Milla's 17th birthday party, a happy occasion, she reveals to Moses that she is in constant pain and knows the end is near. She begs Moses to kill her by suffocation, but he cannot go through with it. Instead, the two have sex for the first time. I choose to stop this nonsense- I don’t want to be a stand for books where children are evil — for the sake of psychological pleasure reading.

And leaves readers wondering whether Suzette is actually being a good mother or if she is, instead, simply a tragically unreliable narrator who’s actually, at least in part, responsible for her daughter’s mental dysfunction. Grehan’s main difference from these well known vampire literature is that the vampires reincarnate, rather than live in the same body for eternity. This main difference makes the book stand out from it’s influences, however if the book wasn’t written in prose, the readers may be able to get more out of it. When reading about the reincarnation she left plot holes such as how the main character finds the two other vampires she lives with. She simply leaves it as they eventually find each other, which doesn’t make much sense. Does this mean all of them go into the adoption system and can only find each other once they’re grown? She mentions that the two other vampires are older than her, so does this mean they are always old enough to adopt her by the time she’s born?McNary, Dave (15 October 2019). "Eliza Scanlen Drama 'Babyteeth' Lands at IFC for North America". Variety . Retrieved 15 October 2019. It remained disappointing that Daddy hadn’t let mommy wither and die when he had a chance”. ( note.. Hanna saw her parents having sex - she was hoping with dad on top of mom, he would kill her). Oh well! Upon first glance, this book seems angsty, dramatic, and queer-friendly. As I read on, I became more and more disappointed. For those not looking for spoilers, do not read on. Before reading this book, I was intrigued by the idea of a lesbian vampire romance written by a queer author. I am from Washington State in the United States, so I am all for vampire-centered romance because of Stephanie Meyer's books that came out during my teenage years. In addition to this, Meg Grehan may have taken inspiration from the Irish writer, Sheridan Le Fanu who wrote Carmilla, in the early 1800s, which created the first written representation of lesbian vampire romance in Ireland.

The supernatural elements are minor, with Stage introducing witches and hints of Walpurgis Night into the mix, but still these are intended to keep the reader wondering what is truly going on with Hanna. I thought everything would get better. Kindergarten. But she didn’t talk. That’s how it all started. We tried doctors, there’s nothing physically wrong. But every place I’ve tried to enroll her, and every babysitter, it’s like she wants to torture— just me”. She doesn't want to do this. No one, including her husband, seems to understand what she has to go through every day. For Suzette’s safety and Hanna’s best interests, Beatrix suggested that the Jensens send her to a children’s psychiatric facility called Marshes. Reluctantly, they agreed. They went on Tuesday as a family, and Suzette helped Hanna make a stuffed toy of the UnderSlumberBumbleBeast, a character from her favorite book. The next day, without telling Hanna where they were going, they drove to the facility in rural Pennsylvania. They left Hanna without goodbyes, and when she realized what was happening, she ran after them, crying and clutching her toy. Suzette felt that she was returning to normal, and felt a guilty joy that her daughter was gone. Weeks went by until they got a call from Marshes. Hanna was on the phone, speaking in her own voice for the first time. She asked to come home, and while Alex wanted to let her, Suzette gave a firm no. Furious, Hanna resolved to become the best girl ever so that she could come home and get revenge. A while later, Anna wakes up at night and discovers Moses in the process of robbing the family for prescription drugs. Milla and Henry wake up and are alerted to the situation, but while Henry wants to call the police Milla pleads for leniency, which Anna allows, noticing how much happier Milla is with Moses. The following day Anna warns Moses to stay away from her daughter.

Need Help?

Hanna, the 7-year-old at the center of this novel should, be all accounts, be a wonderful, well-adjusted child. The daughter of two loving parents, Hanna has been raised since birth by her stay-at-home mother and doted on by her loving father. Maybe it had been a mistake, trying to set Mommy on fire. If only she’d known how long it took for things - or people - to fully ignite. What would you do if your child hated you? Really and truly hated you? Hated you so much , in fact, that she wanted to eliminate you?
