About this deal

Ideally we want at 2 Troggbosses, enough to ensure the CA doesn't get sniped but iirc from when I looked through the book yesterday the only difference between the Troggboss and the normal Troggoths was +2 wounds and the CA. 80 points is to much to justify going beyond the point you've secured your CA. Anyway that's 600 points down the pan before we do anything else, leaving us with only 1400 points to actually play with. There’s three interesting, if not overwhelmingly strong, options for the Dankhold Troggboss. Firstly, Alpha Trogg provides two extra wounds and the Monster keyword, a small mercy for everyone who thought they should be monsters anyway. Trogg Smash is a once per battle 3” mortal wound bomb that triggers after the Troggboss fights. Most intriguing is Loonskin which lets you take one of the non-arachnacauldron Gitz endless spells for 0 points and lets your general attempt to cast it (but crucially, does not make them a wizard so any of those predatory spells will be wild). Artefacts For those of you with a spiderfang general, Spider Riders can be battleline and certainly exist. A bit more exciting is the Arachnarok Spider with Spiderfang Warparty , giving the faction its sole ability to monster mash if you’re that way inclined. No longer relegated to being the worst big spider but it’s battleline I guess, the warparty now counts as 10 models for contesting objectives which is really good! Behemoth Starting off we will look at my favorite, the Troggoth army. (Note: This is not a cheap army to buy and play, troggoths are massive models that cost a lot of points and the price is reflected via GW)

Their fantastic damage potential makes both units excellent additions to a Kruleboyz army, so let’s take a look at their warscrolls for all the juicy details. Breaka-boss on Mirebrute Troggoth If your opponent has any threats hiding behind a pesky ward save, why not strip them of that safety net with Nasty Hex? Now you can ensure your savage bolts don’t find their impact blunted. As for the battalion, even at 2k it's too expensive, even if you factor in that 50 points of Command Point. The extra item is cool, but again I'd rather have more trolls as they'll be doing more damage than natural 6s to wound ever will provide. There you have it. A very expensive and low model count army that takes advantage of the sweet new models that GW is pushing out. With as few models as there are, you just might not be as competitive as you like.

Command Ability: Oblivious to Sorcery

So I've been playing around with the numbers a bit and I feel like there are three questions which have to be asked when going into a list. The first choice is to grab a Hag, if we do that shes basically points, combined with the 2 Troggbosses that's a whopping 1k points gone on just your 3 hero options. The already impressive range and reliability of the Killbow pairs well with the Big Yellers Warclan ability, netting you a tasty extra 3” range, as well as a reroll should you fail to hit. This kit allows you to build your miniature as a Dankhold Troggboss instead. Regardless of your choice of unit, you can customise your miniature with a variety of heads, weapons, arms and accessories for making your models look distinct – great if you're looking to add multiples of these massive monsters to your army. The set also features a host of basing materials you can use on any of your Gloomspite Gitz models. There are smaller details that also help to excel Trugg’s model above the rest. He seems to have carvings onto his flesh that resemble cave paintings, hinting that he’s been (deeply) asleep for a (very) long time. The moss and draped foliage and filth hanging off of him embed the Troggoth tropes of spending long periods in the deepest dank, sleeping until feeling the need to eat. Utlimately, Trugg’s model is to be a fine centrepiece for any Troggoth aficionado and will surely lord his regal presence to any and all who lay eyes upon him. Rules Befitting a Ruler

I'm still torn on what exactly I'll be doing since I have a swamp themed Fimir army, but never had any Fellwaters as they were just bad by comparison. Now they're good, so at 2k points I can see myself running 1k points of trolls and 1k points of Fimir as GA Destruction; Arachnacauldron getting those juicy spells out of allegiance. At 1k I'd go Gloomspite. There's always the possibility that I'd go 2k with all trolls but that's too expensive for an immediate buy. You can still use the army’s terrain piece, if applicable. Ultimately this means that the factions portrayed in Rise of the Brute are standalone. Since all the necessary Warscrolls and pitched battle profiles are freely available you do not need the original Battletome to play any of the Armies of Renown in this book. Trugg Knows Best There’s 3 kinds of Trogg units, plus a leader and a named leader. While not a ton of variety, lets try and keep it in theme as best we can. Allegiance: Gloomspite Gitz Discussions of lists which don't have Dankhold Troggbosses as generals or all the Troggoth battleline are fine. As long as the list itself is trogg focused. Finally there’s Chasing the Moon which requires your general to survive the battle, potentially much easier than it used to be if they’re a Galetian Champion, and to have been affected by the Light of the Bad Moon in 3 battle rounds. Aelementor ( Cloud-Spirit • Spirit of the Mountain • Spirit of the Wind) • Flamegheist • Living Land • Shadow Daemon • Spite We may be in the dead of winter here in the mitten state, (-26 wind chill as of this writing) but I don’t think the Gloomspite Gitz care too much about that. They are the new hotness that GW has released, and the models are certainly stunning! Dankhold General or Skragrott, I really think those are the only 2 general choices for Dankhold armies. As this is a bit of a unique case for the destruction forums I'm going to layout a few basic things as to what sort of lists go here and what goes in the main Gloomspite thread.
