Can you tell us more about what your role involves once your book has been published. Will you be promoting your book in schools or at other events?

Although I can’t recall the specific moment I decided to become a writer, I remember that it happened because I wanted to direct films. I’ve always loved films and about 13 years ago I set out to make some of my own. To do that I knew I needed scripts but as I didn’t know any screenwriters at the time I wrote them myself. Over time I found that I enjoyed the writing more than the filmmaking and eventually I stopped directing films altogether. I also realized that I preferred to write shorter stories, which led me to picture books about 4 years ago. Having previously reviewed "Welcome to the Museum" books, I was again simply fascinated and thoroughly impressed with the presentation, information, and art of the beautiful oversized book. In Dinosaurium: Welcome to the Museum, we have a pretty clear presentation of evolutionary theory as being an accepted theory and there is a glorious depiction of the dinosaurs as theorized from research authorities and paleontologists in this area of study of fossilized bones. We all realize that the evidence supports the existence of dinosaurs and other creatures, but there is some disagreement as to the timeline. I disagree and hold to the Creation concept. I still think, however, that this is a fascinating book and those who hold to either origin of creatures will discover much to interest them. Palaeontologists, till recently had an unsolved problem concerning the origin and evolution of sauropod dinosaurs. Many authorities attempted in vain to find anatomical links between prosauropods and sauropods. This gap has now been bridged by the work of the Indian Statistical Institute and the Geological Survey of India. They are many structural features by which Indian sauropods can be linked with prasauropods on the one hand and with advanced sauropods on the other. Thus, Indian sauropoid can be called a missing link in the evolution of sauropod dinosaurs. This exhibition looks at the long history of our relationship with dinosaurs, from ancient legends of mythical winged beasts in the deserts of central Asia, to the creatures brought to life in Jurassic Park.

Ha, I’ve actually never thought about it. It would be one of the more docile ones for sure. Perhaps Argentinosaurus. I’d love to see what the biggest dinosaur ever (that we know of) looked like in reality. It’s actually very difficult to pin down the source of a specific idea, as many of them are amalgamations of several thoughts and ideas generated over a period of months, or even years. This story was certainly a combination of ideas. I do remember one influence being the removal of ‘Dippy’ (the plaster cast Diplodocus) from the entrance hall of the Natural History Museum. I wanted to write a story that might encourage children to visit that museum and Dippy was definitely a catalyst for that process.

The sauropod dinosaurs – Barapasaurus fagorei and Kotasaurus Yamanpollieneis from the Lower Jurassic Kota Formation (about 160 million years old) are the earliest known species. Although earlier sauropods have been found in Zimbabwe and China, great interest is attached to the Indian, dinossaurs which had already attained gigantic sizes. The Allen Gallery and Curtis Museum are operated by Hampshire Cultural Trust, an independent charity set up in 2014 to promote Hampshire as a county that offers outstanding cultural experiences to both its residents and visitors. La información que nos aporta este libro va de lo general a lo particular. Al tratarse de un atlas visual su punto fuerte es, y no podía ser de otra manera, el impresionante trabajo de ilustración de Chris Wormell. Al final del libro nos dicen que el ilustrador jamás ha recibido formación artística, cosa que resulta casi imposible de creer teniendo este libro en la mano. Los datos que nos aportan están recientemente actualizados, lo que significa que las ilustraciones presentan el aspecto más fidedigno posible sobre estas criaturas.
