About this deal

Each player (other than the storyteller) scores one bonus point for each vote earned by his or her image, with a limit of 3 bonus points maximum (even if their image has earned more than 3 votes). For longer games, you can increase the number of times a player must be storyteller during the game. The game ends when each player has been storyteller once. The team with the most points is declared winner. Scoring is the same as regular Dixit, and the game ends when each player has had a chance to be the storyteller. Just like the tokens, each of the scoreboard colors corresponds with a bunny color. One downside we found about the Dixit voting boards is that most of the colors look the same, therefore it’s really hard to tell them apart. Regular Version

When players take full advantage of the clue-giving freedom within Dixit, it becomes the best game in my collection. As downright hilarity ensues when you see the pictures revealed for clues such as ‘my last Tinder date’, and ‘what Dave looks like in the morning’. The differences to Dixit are few, but worthy enough to own both standalone games in my opinion, especially at this price point. The key differences are: One of the players is the storyteller for the turn. He or she examines the 6 image cards in their hand. Using one of them, they think of something to say and say it out loud (without revealing their card to the other players). The score for each round is the number of stars that were filled during that round on each player's Personal Slate. If a player is in the dark, their score is penalized by -1 for each match (e.g., 1 point for a spark and 2 points for a super spark) unless all the cards they had selected resulted in a spark or super spark. In that case, the player in the dark did not fall and they score full points for each match. [32] Image cards that were guessed incorrectly prior to the correct guess are taken off the tableau and placed in front of the active player.

End of the Game

If at least one player, but not all the players, find the narrator’s card then the narrator receives 3 points, and each player who found the narrator’s card receives 3 points. Furthermore, each player receives 1 bonus point per vote on their card. The base game features a total of 84 cards that each have a unique and abstract image of the wildest things you could ever imagine. The object of the game is to be the first player to reach 30 points.

Voting players who selected the storyteller 's card and only voted once receive a bonus point, for 7+ player games under Odyssey rules. [5] To me Odyssey looks the most random, but may be too far out for someone with little imagination, at least to start with. Common sense suggests starting with Dixit, as it's the first, but that also makes it the oldest; theoretically the newest would be the most stable and well made.

However, if the clues are more about thoughts and feelings the game can also get a little introspective as well. For if you give the clue ‘anxiety’ or ‘depression’ for example. Dixit works at this level as well. In the original rules, the winner is the first player to reach 30 points. In the revised rules, the winner is the player with the most points when the last card is drawn. The game ends when a 3×3 square tableau can no longer be made from the remaining image cards in the draw pile. The winner is the player with the most image cards at the end of the game.

Journey introduces a new artist into the mix. While Marie Cardouat uses broad brush strokes and it’s very clearly a painting. Xavier Collette blends painting and illustration to create more recognisable pictures of scenes that are bizarre and confounding. Dixit: OdysseyOnce all the points are assigned, it’s time for a new storyteller to give a title. In my group, we make it so that those who already gave a title have to wait until everybody has had a chance to be the storyteller. Règles Dixit"[Dixit Rules] (PDF) (in French). Libellud. For example, if a player believes that image number 3 is the storyteller's, that player will place their voting token on space number 3 of their tablet. Once everyone has voted, each player reveals their voting board, and the storyteller reveals which was his or her image. Dixit Odyssey is a card game in which you can let your imagination run free. It’s an expansion to the original Dixit board game, but it also came as a standalone version: it’s basically the same as the main game, but it added the possibility to play with up to 12 players. You may be curious as to why I’m skipping the 3 player count, but this is because playing it with 4-6 players is considered the normal way to play Dixit, with the majority of the rule books written under the assumption that you’re mostly playing it with that many players.

I'm concerned my niece, who's ten and has been raised on the likes of Hannah Montana, has little to no imagination or creativity. I want to find games we can play that will push her thinking out of the Disney drone-mold and I think that Dixit looks perfect for this. However, there's a problem; there are too many versions.
