About this deal

Who it’s for: Those who want an intensely vibrant colour to transform their shade, level up their highlights or balayage, or banish brassiness as part of a colour correction service. Demi-permanent hair colours are also able to sweep away your first greys, while giving you softer regrowth for a beautifully blended look. Plus, they’re perfect for adding lowlights, a root smudge or a root shadow, so you can upgrade your look with high shine and boosted dimension.

The sustainable holiday home is fitted with 2 separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area and dishwasher, and a living room with a flat-screen TV. Guests can take in the ambience of the surroundings from an outdoor dining area or keep themselves warm by the fireplace on colder days.Wella founded Making Waves in 2011 – a programme that teaches hairdressing and life skills to disadvantaged young people. The program started in Brazil and has since expanded to include Romania, Cambodia, and Vietnam and has trained over 44,800 people. [9] After World War II, the German Democratic Republic dismantled the Wella plant in Apolda as part of the reparations plan enacted by the Soviet Union. The plant in Rothenkirchen was expropriated and renamed VEB Londa, becoming communal state property under the Volkseigener Betrieb. The Ströher family and some members of staff decided to start the business again from scratch on a smaller scale in Hünfeld, Osthessen under the name Ondal GmbH. Production began again in 1946 with the new business being registered as Wella AG in 1950 with the central management of the company located in Darmstadt, Hessen in West Germany. Throughout the 50s and 60s the company followed an aggressive campaign in international markets within developing countries such as Chile, Brazil, the Asian and Pacific territories as well as various parts of Africa. After the reunification of Germany, in February 1990 the Rothenkirchen plant was reintegrated into Wella, forming a joint venture with Londa to produce and market hairdressing products throughout Europe. [5] If you spend more time sitting in the salon chair than you do coiffing hair behind it, you might think your colorist simply glances at a hair color chart before choosing your next ultra-flattering shade. However, there’s a lot of knowledge behind every formula they mix, even if they make each decision, suggestion and technique look utterly effortless.

While we can’t lift the lid on every secret your stylist has up their sleeve, we’re giving you a little more insight into how the Wella hair color charts are used. What it is: While it’s not quite a hair colour, bleach still belongs on this list for its shade-shifting powers. Also known as hair lightener, it’s used for all-over lifting, highlights, ombre hair and a classic balayage to – you guessed it – make your hair lighter. Who it’s for: Choose this type of hair colour if you’re looking for shades that are longer-lasting than a temporary colour, but lower-commitment than a permanent or demi-permanent colour. They’re perfect if you want to try a seasonal trend, like pumpkin spice hair or caramel balayage in autumn, or beachy blonde hair in the summer months. Some formulas (Color Fresh) also gently blend resistant greys if you want soft coverage. How it works: If you’re going for a lighter shade, a lightener is usually applied as the first step in your colour appointment. Your colourist will sweep it through hair with your technique of choice (e.g. ombre highlights, balayage, babylights), then allow it to develop with or without foils. Keep in mind that, for bigger transformations, your colourist may need to lift your hair across a number of appointments. This is done to protect your hair’s condition and ensure you reach your picture-perfect shade.

In 1924, the Ströhers registered the name Wella at the German patent office. As wigs and hairpieces fell out of fashion, the company turned to permanent wave products; the name Wella was taken from Dauer wellapparat, meaning "permanent wave device" in German. In 1927, they introduced the first perming appliance and supplied it to salons. In the 1930s Wella developed the first hair dryers with built-in motors and movable tubes that allowed head movement during the drying process. Also in the 1930s, Wella introduced Wella Junior, a portable perming machine. What it is: Don’t be fooled by the name; just because it’s called a permanent hair colour doesn’t mean it will last forever. It will, however, give a longer-lasting finish than any other hair colour on this list. This is because permanent shades are able to open up the hair cuticle, so the desired pigment can penetrate the hair shaft and transform it from within. It’s this deep-down action that makes permanent shades so rich in finish. The deal closed on December 1, 2020, establishing the Wella Company as a stand-alone private entity based in Geneva, Switzerland. In the 1960s, the company launched Wella Privat, a salon-exclusive product range that let customers take professional-style products home for the first time. In the early 1970s, Wella introduced Perform a new perm product that allowed hairdressers to create Afro style looks. In 1972 they released Wella Balsam, the first shampoo specifically produced for retail sales. The advertising campaign featured the stars of TV show Charlie's Angels: Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd. In 1981, actress and model Brooke Shields appeared in an advertising campaign for Wella Balsam. Wella also launched For Men, their first ever product line exclusively for men. Now, you know what ‘colour chosen’ means – it’s the desired hair hue – while the ‘starting point’ is a combination of the hair history and the underlying pigment. Let’s break each of them down… Hair History
