About this deal

Festive, feel-good and heartwarming from beginning to end. Curl up with your hot chocolate and enjoy being transported.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Records of Sheffield No 3 Hospital Management Committee, 1948-1974 (NHS37: formerly SY298/H1-9, SY641/H1-8) Winter Street is my first experience with an Elin Hilderbrand book. Other reviewers state this isn’t her best work. Though it does not provide as much depth as some other women’s fiction novels I have read, I still found it entertaining. Probably the features I liked best were the likeable characters, all the different family dynamics, and Ms. Hilderbrand’s humor that is laced throughout the story at just the right moments. Sky Terran, our main character is a 39 year old property developer who for reasons I won’t spoil, ends up buying a large dilapidated house in Middledip. Sky is no stranger to the area as she and the village have history but it’s fair to say that someone’s nose is ever so slightly put out of joint when she first arrives. This was a lovely Christmas read and another winner from Moorcroft. It was a detailed narrative with interesting characters that made the story more enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed picturing the beautiful snowy scenes of Middledip and this was what helped make this a great piece of festive fiction. It is simply marvellous and really did make me feel as though I was in a winter wonderland at times. Another triumphant story from an author I absolutely love.Every time I read a new book by Sue Moorcroft I think, this is the best book she has written! It was the same after finishing A White Christmas on Winter Street.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love this author, loved the characters, and the storyline was lovely. All set in a snowy landscape – what more could you ask for?’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I loved Sky as a character. She had a troubled history but had made a fantastic life for herself through hard work and determination. She also had a great sense of fun combined with an acute awareness of social and ecological responsibility which underpinned everything she did. Young Wilf was a joy and as for Daz I really felt for him as his loyalties were torn and he was rather put in a no-win situation. By May 1948, Commonside Sanatorium was being run as an annexe to Winter Street Hospital, and by 1951 Dronfield Hospital was also administered in that capacity. I’m a fan of many of Hilderbrand’s books and I’ve been looking forward to starting this series for a while. This was emotional and fun but just a bit too melodramatic and stuffed full of chaos. Every character had at least one issue to deal with, and none of them were simple, either.

Christmas is fast approaching, so what could be better than a festive trip to delightful Middledip for another seasonal tale. Daz has his own stuff going on. His best friend has gone to prison, leaving behind his wife and young son. Daz plays a big part in both their lives, which is possibly misconstrued by some. A White Christmas on Winter Street is now one of my favourite holiday reads and one I will return to over the years. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys holiday reads. Courtesy of Rokh; Courtesy of Bottega Veneta; Courtesy of Versace; Courtesy of Ferragamo; Courtesy of Schiaparelli; Courtesy of Nina Ricci; Courtesy of Zimmermann I loved reading about the restoration, let’s face it purchasing a gorgeous old house abd doing it up is a dream for a lot of people, or it is for me, so the only way I get close without winning the lottery is in books like this. I also love how the house is a haven, not only for Sky but for others too (again no spoilers) and becomes a central part of the community too.You can’t get more festive than this latest offering from Moorcroft, with lashings of snow, Christmas lights and love. It’s the perfect feel-good fiction to get you in the mood for the big day! It’s not long before the locals are making themselves known and either enticing Sky to the local pub, or dictating what she should do to prepare for the annual street decorating competition. Whilst Sky may seem quite closed off she’s not shy about expressing herself and the way she handled the decoration committee had me grinning from ear to ear. She was firm without being rude and made it clear that she would do it her way and in her own time. The nature touches that were introduced in the story were lovely and once again showed how the simplest of activities can be the most enjoyable. But 100% this is a standalone, it's just fans of the author will recognise this setting, and The Corner House on Winter Street is a wonderful focal point for this story. As is the whole Christmas decoration contest pitting Winter Street against other streets in Cambridgeshire. As a character 39 year old Sky Terran has had a troubled upbringing, and, estranged from her mother for many years, considers herself to have no family except her foster brother Freddy, who she met when they were both fostered in Middledip in their teenage years. Working with Freddy in property development, situations at work come to an impasse where Sky resigns and ends up living in Middledip again. In this, the first book in Elin Hilderbrand's Winter Street series, one family experiences a ton of chaos right around Christmas.

Kevin is living at the Inn. He's ex-wife Nora did a number on him. He lost trust in women but secretly he has been dating Isabelle, a French woman who works at the Inn too. He's going to be a father and he better get with the program before he loses his chance at happiness. This seasonal romp from Sue Moorcroft provides all the festive feels, but the story is so much more than just a Christmas tale. For Scotland, 2011 data is shown (update coming soon, the Scottish census was delayed by a year unlike the rest of the UK).A White Christmas on Winter Street by Sue Moorecroft is my last Christmas book of 2022 and it has tied my festive reading off perfectly. The tale that unfolds in Winter Street is not your typical holiday story, but takes us into the lives of this close-knit family as Hilderbrand shares a not so perfect Christmas. Delivered from each of the Quinn’s perspective we follow each of the stories as we move through the holiday, discover truths, and band together. Quirky, heart-felt, and genuine I enjoyed learning about this family. Except for a partial cliff-hanger ending (some things are looking like a happy ending, other story lines are open ended, which I don’t appreciate), I enjoyed this novel about a man whose second marriage is failing and the challenges faced by his four adult children. I liked it because no one is perfect but no one is unlikable.
