About this deal

For convenience apply the seed and fertiliser on the same day though it is usually better to apply the fertiliser once the seed has germinated. Never feed before seeding. Identify the type of grass plants in your lawn as some require more nutrients (ryegrass) and some less nutrients (fescues). The other advantage of fertilising your lawn more regularly means that you can use a targeted fertiliser designed specifically for either spring, summer, autumn or winter months. Take a pea sized bit of soil and smear it between your fingers. If it feels smooth and silky it has a clay base. If it feels finely ‘gritty’ then it has a sand base. Hopefully the results from your two tests give the same answer!

BEST FOR THE UK CLIMATE – A1 Lawn ultimate fertilisers are freshly produced in the UK, professional grade & designed to work with the British weather. This ensures fast germination & delivers a strong & healthy lawn every year. Use March, April, May, June, July & August. Apply when showers are predicted or water in well. Unlike grass ‘weed and feed’ products, Lawnsmith® Granular Fertilisers do not contain pesticides or weed killers. Though the bag of bulk material should be stored safely away from children and pets, the lawn may be used by children, wildlife, dogs and cats immediately after application. One of the most popular fertilisers to use is weed and feed as it helps to eradicate the weeds in your lawn at the same time as fertilising the grass. This saves time and money on buying selective lawn weedkiller and then lawn fertiliser separately. In addition to this Lawn Sand should be used in Spring and Summer months which helps to promote luch, green turf and if it's a wet summer it will control moss at the same time. September or October are the target months for applying your autumn fertiliser. Once again national temperature and weather patterns apply, but as a rule wait until the rains start in late August or September, and then apply your lawn fertiliser. Dependent on where you live you’ll find some years this may mean early September and other years late October. Squeeze the soil in the palm of your hand; if it forms a sausage shape and stays together when you open your hand its clay based soil. If it crumbles into a few pieces then a sandy base is more likely. Test 2:

Winter Lawn Feed

A1 Lawn was established in 2010, an independent seed merchant located in Perth, Scotland, supplying high quality lawn products to customers across the UK.

Even though on every bag of fertiliser you’ll find a recommended application rate, I think it’s best not to use it, instead I would use half. To prevent over applying and for better lawn coverage, spread the fertiliser in one direction (in straight lines) using half and then spread the second half going in another direction, at a perpendicular angle (90°).You can carry out a soil analysis prior to fertilisation to know which one is right for your job.
