Victory Through Intimidation: Demonstrated by John Constantine on a room full of magical supervillains in the original miniseries. It's a bluff, but he is John Constantine. Compelling Voice: A variant with Bongsquall the troll; nobody can say "no" to him, no matter what he asks of them — but the flipside is that he can't say "no" to anyone else either. He gets around this through Loophole Abuse and Exact Words. Also Mr. Lily, though Tim eventually learns to resist it. Adaptational Jerkass: Tim in the original version was a good kid whose main flaws was passiveness and a tendency to get too caught up in himself and his own problems to notice what other people were going through, but who also had a bit of a Chronic Hero Syndrome syndrome going on and would always go out of his way to help those in need. This version is much more an antisocial and temperamental Jerk with a Heart of Gold with a disturbingly ruthless and violent streak towards people he doesn't like, and various people's concerns that he'll grow up to be a terrible, dark wizard seem a lot more justified. That said, he's still basically good. He's far less passive and his first impulse is still to help rather than harm, and he does try his best to take care of people in need.Winter's Edge #2". Chekhov's Gun: The three treasures Tim, Yo-Yo and Rose get from Snout's den end up playing a role in their travel through Faerie, in proper fairytale fashion. Rose uses her mirror as an answer to a riddle posed by a giant, Yo-yo's chain is used to bind Baba Yaga's house's legs to let Tim escape, and Tim gives his Mundane Egg to Titania in exchange for a silver key, to avoid paying with his life. He visits all kinds of different realms, traveling in the past, present, and finally the future, all the while being chased by a group called Cult of the Cold Flame who are out to kill him...for reasons.In the last issue of the ongoing (second) The Books of Magic series, writer/artist Peter Gross played on the similarity to Potter, showing Tim's step brother Cyril putting on a glamor stone that made him look like Timothy. Cyril then walked through the wall between platforms 9 and 10 at a train station. Gaiman used the four issues to formally split the structure of the story and allow for a different artist to draw each issue: The third voyage is with Doctor Occult, who takes the boy to the worlds parallel to ours (Fairyland chiefly amongst them) and we get to encounter a baba yaga as well as the queen herself, Titania. In the midst of all this, the fair folk have lost their own will, belief and reason for being in the Fairie. Without such belief, the realm and all who are in it start becoming undone by something known as "the Leveler". The flitling Yarrow saves Fairie: her belief and loyalty cause it to be recreated in reality as exactly what it seemed to be - happy, natural and carefree - and with no tithe now owed to Hell. There is much celebration and as Tim and Molly are reunited, Titania tempers her curse as best she can: Molly's feet will no longer touch the ground and she will always have Faerie food to eat, so she can return to the mundane world with Tim. Changeling Fantasy: Tim is apparently the illegitimate son of Queen Titania and her human falconer Tamlin , raised by mortal parents. At least at first. Then Auberon says that Tim has no faerie blood and it seems he's the illegitimate son of Tamlin and Mary Hunter, and the changeling son of Titania and Tamlin is his half-brother whose fate is unknown. But it's never completely certain. A third possibility raised is that Mary Hunter was a faerie nursemaid under a glamour who smuggled Tim out of Faerie at Titania's request to hide the fact that Her Majesty was a human sorceress under a glamour and the baby, having been fathered by Tamlin, was fully human. So the only thing really certain is that Tamlin is Tim's biological father and William Hunter isn't. Timothy Hunter is a fictional character, a comic book sorcerer published by DC Comics. Gross' first story arc, then, dealt with Tim settling into Bardsley school and meeting Thomas Currie, a man who had traveled through various worlds searching for the true Tim to either prepare him to defeat his Other or kill him to prevent the Other stealing his power. Currie took advantage of the disappearance of a teacher at Bardsley so that he could take his place and interact with Tim, [26] but this only caused problems for both as Tim's stepbrother Cyril saw the teacher die whilst potholing under the school and used the status he gained from controlling the other boys' access to the body to turn the school against the new teacher and Tim, [28] although his influence only lasted until Tim and Currie removed the body and the teacher resigned. [29] Tim makes a deal with Cyril to stay away from Bardsley in exchange for his stepbrother not telling Bill and Holly what Tim is really doing - getting private lessons in magic from Mr Currie to help him face his Other. Tim Hunter made the ultimate choice to pursue magic in the Mister E miniseries by K. W. Jeter when he was forced to use magic to prevent Mister E from killing him.
