About this deal

Award-winning Denon Setup Assistant and graphical user interface: Easy and intuitive out-of-box setup experience.

Everybody will be able to make use of this amp’s 3D audio support, though – whether or not you have dedicated height speakers –which runs to Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Virtualization Technology, DTS:X, DTS Virtual:X and IMAX Enhanced. The company was founded in 1946 as the Osaka-based Owada Radio Shop. It eventually became the Tokyo-based Onkyo Corporation we know today. So: Passive bi-amping results in lower distortion at all levels. When passively bi-amping (with a receiver or otherwise) the higher the level, the more distortion is lowered (compared to non bi-amped)The TX-NR595 also features Chromecast built-in, so you can easily cast your favorite music, podcasts, or internet radio stations from your mobile device to the receiver. Phono input: With the included phono input, the AVC-X3700H lets you connect your turntable and play vinyl records. Enjoy your collection with exceptional quality and sound. But, despite that class-leading build quality, and though these contemporary new features are the main reason home cinema amps are updated so regularly, these are far from the main selling points as far as the AVC-X3700H is concerned. The AVR-X3700H features extremely nimble media switching and dynamic HDR capabilities. For compelling contrast, clarity, and color, the HDMI inputs also feature BT.2020 pass-through support, 3D, Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), Dolby Vision, HDR10, and 4:4:4 Pure Color subsampling. For video support, the Denon AVR-X3700H has 7 HDMI inputs and 3 HDMI outputs (one of which is tied to zone 2) and supports all the latest signal formats, including eARC, HDCP 2.3, resolution up to 4K/120* and 8k/60*, 3D, and BT.2020 pass-through, and HDR support through HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision.

Build quality is another strong point of Denon receivers. They’re well-constructed and designed to last. Many models include robust metal chassis that can withstand years of use. In terms of audio, the AVC-X3700H retains the 11 channels of processing that were upped from seven on the last iteration of this model. There are nine power amplifier channels built-in, each feeding a claimed 180W of power per channel. That means you can set the AVC-X3700H up in a 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 Dolby Atmos configuration, or add an extra two-channel amp to make full use of the processing power with a 7.2.4 set-up. While a soundbar is ideal for enhancing sound in the living room, you need to up your game if you are looking for proper home theater experiences. Yes, there are some good soundbars – some even have wireless rear speakers – that provide a good enough movie experience. But who are we trying to fool? If you are going to do it properly, then you must do it properly! And then there is no substitute for a powerful surround receiver paired with your favorite speakers. If you want a discreet layout, I suggest wall-mounted speakers or – if you are feeling handy and do not mind cutting holes in the walls – recessed speakers. You need a proper subwoofer as well. But anyway, it all starts with the receiver. More power for just a little more Using just one channel, with increasing volume, speech and other sounds become a garbled mess sooner. Immerse yourself in high-power home theatre entertainment. With 180W per channel the Denon AVC-X3700H delivers a truly immersive 3D audio experience through Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced. The discretely built 9 channel amplifier section features two heat sinks and a strong power supply to deliver the renowned powerful, dynamic and precise Denon sound. The AVC-X3700H supports the latest HDMI video technologies such as 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz pass-through, Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, Dynamic HDR, HLG, as well as 8K upscaling and HDCP 2.3 support on all HDMI inputs (7 in/3 out). The AVENTAGE offers Alexa compatibility but only goes to 4K resolution. For future upgrades to your television or display to a potential 8K, it wouldn’t deliver the full quality of the content. Like its amp siblings that have an “H” at the end of the name, this Denon amp has music streaming with HEOS. This is Denon’s own streaming platform (which Marantz also uses), and it supports most popular music services. It is all easily controlled with the HEOS app on the mobile. The interface is very user-friendly, and reminiscent of Sonos. Be aware that Apple Music and YouTube Music are not directly supported, but since the receiver has both Airplay 2 and Bluetooth, it is still advisable. The Denon AVR-X3700H is also set up for multi-zone and media streaming support, via a Zone 2 control, and the HEOS app. The limitation of only two zones is one area that differentiates the AVR-X3700H from the AVR-X4700H, and honestly could be the thing that eventually makes me upgrade. This difference is unfortunate since both AVRs have the same number of amplified channels, and the same number of speaker posts, and the same number of maximum channels for processing. So, it seems like support for three zones is just a feature that was reduced for the lower-priced product. So it seems this unit may have been released not fully debugged. I was certainly concerned about this issue, and hope it does not surface again. By visually guiding you through each step in the setup process, the award-winning Denon Setup Assistant ensures you get set up right the first time. Every home theatre is different — that’s why Denon uses the premium Audyssey MultEQ XT32 room calibration technology from Audyssey that automatically measures and optimizes your AV amplifier to provide a truly immersive 3D audio experience custom-tailored to your unique listening environment. Features

You probably won't bi amp though, unless you have a huge room and your speakers have nasty low impedance dips in the bass region which cause HF distortion. If you had this problem with the 3700, having the 4700 wouldn't fix anything). I think your speakers are fine though. Reasonably efficient (90db/w) too. Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) HDMI support: Through the main HDMI output, connect your TV with eARC HDMI support to allow uncompressed and object-based audio formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X directly from your smart TV app to your AV amplifier.

Even Denon’s integration of that Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization tech is impressive. While it doesn’t compare to using dedicated height speakers, there is an opening of the soundstage. Without losing too much focus – one of the company’s fortes across its range of AV amps – the AVR-X3600H gives the impression of a more three-dimensional soundfield. We’d opt for letting the amp concentrate on the physical channels you have tethered to it, but with certain discs, we can imagine the virtual Atmos working well. Verdict Where its predecessor would thump, the AVR-X3600H is able to snap, already in position to throw again by the time you’ve felt that first impact. The floor still rumbles as it wobbles the drivers on our subwoofers, and maybe even more so, but most impressive is how Denon has managed to tighten up what was already a speedy response. It’s a big win here for Denon. There are many cheaper AVRs but none of them is anything like as polished. Its mature approach and effortless sense of timing make for a feeling of home cinema sound that’s authentic to the movie theatre experience, even at an entry-level price. On the 750 eco mode had a detrimental effect on sound quality, clarity suffered - distortion was added to apple tv sounds when moving through menus. The upper tier receivers don't have this problem fortunately. It remains engaging at low volumes, too, which will please the neighbours once you’ve had enough of turning it right up and wondering at how its composure remains intact.
