About this deal

u/MikeTheTech has created a fork of the driver mentioned below. Here is the link to his video: https://youtu.be/byfBWDnToYk?feature=shared Works with all aspect ratios, does not depend on what resoluations are recorded in the dummy's EDID/firmware. First, it does not work with all computers or all versions of Windows. Second, it can cause problems if you try to connect a real monitor to the computer after using the dummy plug – you may need to reboot the machine or reconfigure the display settings. Finally, it’s just not as good as having a real monitor connected! Conclusion I’ve not used a pass-through dummy, but I suspect your suspicion is correct – the EDID of the connected downstream device is ignored (no connect) while the 5V and DDC pins are taken to the dummy plug’s internal EEPROM along with the HPD line being pulled up to signal to the source that there is a sink attached. The 5V could be sent down to the end device in parallel to make it happy but the returning DDC is likely just not connected at all. Reading the DDC of the end sink shouldn’t make a difference to it – but keep in mind that such a solution would “fail” if the EDID in the dummy causes the source to generate a mode that the sink cannot understand or synchronise with. The best way to be sure is to buy one and trace it out … this is merely my musings based on my understanding of the standard.

And I can change the primary monitor if I want to test my OpenGL programs on Skylake. It’s that simple. Sometimes the created mirror might not be the main display (the display with the menu bar and the one where windows are located by default) or a created but invisible dummy becomes the main display which makes moving forward difficult. You can easily change any display or mirror set to be main by simply choosing Settings> Set as main under the display in the app menu. This requires fairly advanced computer skills according to the driver's author. Proceed at your own risk. With that said, I would also like to give my opinion that simply being diligent in reading the instructions and having basic knowledge in what drivers and certificates are is enough to make this work.It is important to note that dummy plugs come in different variations, depending on the specific requirements and functionalities. Some dummy plugs may simply emulate a generic display, while others may allow for more advanced customization and configuration options. Additionally, certain dummy plugs may also provide additional features, such as EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) emulation or support for specific display resolutions.

With a 4K HDMI dummy plug, a PC’s GPU can be used for tasks like high-resolution GPU-accelerated remote desktops and GPGPU operations like cryptocurrency mining, rendering, and simulations. Your internal screen will be available as an extended space on a MacBook (or you can use clamshell mode). The app is compatible with all Apple Silicon macs running macOS Monterey (MacBook Air, Mini, 2020 and 2021 MacBook Pros). I live on old DVI/ VGA monitors but I need to test every cam to work to donate them to my friends for some other hardware parts ( as live HD video monitoring camera, connected to TV or HDMI monitor)The simple plug-and-play fit-headless display emulator works on Windows, MAC OS, and Linux. It doesn’t need a driver or power from the outside, and it solves the Apple OSX headless display problem. What I noticed is that Windows is automatically using the "full power" of the integrated card when running those tasks (especially when playing games), and only 30-40% of the dedicated card. When I'm connected to an external monitor, the integrated GPU performance in task manager is literally at 0% and everything is run through the Nvidia card. That's why everything works so flawlessly (as it should). Better quality zooming ( System Preferences» Accessibility» Zoom) or High Quality screenshots even on 1080p displays.

As you all probably know, Moonlight normally cannot stream without a monitor connected to the graphics card due to NVidia's limitations. The typical workaround to this if you are using Windows is to use a dummy plug which makes your computer think that there is a display connected. However, for those who prefer a software solution, here it is. Now just plug this fake display dongle on the HDMI port of the second graphics card, reboot you PC and the second graphics card should be properly enabled on Windows. Dummy plugs are not limited to HDMI ports alone. Similar dummy devices exist for other types of display interfaces, such as VGA (Video Graphics Array) and DVI (Digital Visual Interface). However, HDMI dummy plugs are particularly popular due to the prevalence of HDMI technology in modern devices. There are a few other benefits that HDMI dummy plugs offer, such as the ability to improve your home entertainment experience or eliminate lag and noise when recording video or taking screenshots. However, one of the most popular benefits of using an HDMI dummy plug is the fact that it can save you money. There are a few different ways to go about setting up a dummy plug. One popular method is to use a spare HDMI cable and solder it to two pins on a connector. This method is pretty straightforward and only requires a few tools that most people already have around the house.

I have connected PenCam via AV cable to 7 inch TV monitor (RCA chinch cable) to get no video signal. Then I asked them are they fuc*ing kidding me with that kind of answer and they referred me to FAQ which, of course, explains nothing. While HDMI dummy plugs are generally reliable and straightforward to use, you may encounter some common issues during setup or operation. Here are a few troubleshooting tips to help you resolve common problems with HDMI dummy plugs:
