About this deal

It's nice that despite being an acclaimed artist, he has his own stories to tell. Hope to read more from him in the future.

Artist draws on Portland for scenes in new Batman comic series". Press Herald. 2017-09-22 . Retrieved 2017-09-22. All Republicans are evil, all Christians are bigots, & America is a country brimming with the fat, lazy, and stupid. I mean, these are just facts, right? The "B" story is about a former IRA terrorist seeking redemption as Chris' bodyguard. When Thomas first came into the story, the reader's first impression would be that this stern guy is a Punisher clone. Thomas ends up more nuanced than Frank Castle. Though his name may suggest the doubting disciple, he's a believer, this Thomas is.Bears Are Bad News: Cola, the friendly polar bear Dr. Epstein domesticated, goes completely apeshit on the NAC goons who try to infiltrate the J2 island. You know the kind I'm talking about...all angsty and earnest, because they know how the world works. And if 'we adults' would just listen to them, then everything would be sunshine and roses. Cyberpunk: More emphasis is given to the "punk" end, but corporate corruption and advanced computer technology also feature prominently.

He has also had a run on Hellblazer [2] and, also at Vertigo, he is the artist on Joe the Barbarian, with writer Grant Morrison. [3] The ending... Yeah, not a fan. It’s kinda anti-climactic and I wasn’t a fan of the results well... except for the douchebag producer dying.Although this story has some interesting ideas, and it roots in some real problems of religion and mass media, the main characters are not strong enough or well developed to support a story of the level of the criticism it attempts to make. Chris is accuesed of being preachy and this is how the story feels sometimes. (May it be noted that I am an active Atheist who shares almost all of the ideas Chris preaches about, but they are not quite fitted in the story). Also the general audience opinion of the whole show is never adressed, and we never see a moderate religious person, all of them are one dimensional characters. Murphy's comic book work includes the miniseries Batman/Scarecrow: Year One with writer Bruce Jones for DC Comics and the graphic novel Off Road for Oni Press. All of the Christians are one-dimensional caricatures. To even say they’re characters is giving Sean Murphy way more credit than he deserves. Murphy is simply a terrible writer - he doesn’t understand nuance or subtlety, so his characters, all of them, are pathetic creations that are totally unconvincing. All Christians are apparently super-crazy, gun-bearing, sign-toting loonies, and atheists are all intelligent, bar none. Like I said I’m not a Christian but I thought this was such a broad and unbelievably dumb swipe that I felt bad for any Christians reading this tripe. Driven to Suicide: Gwen has a dream that she jumps off the balcony of her room at the psychiatric hospital after escaping J2, but is saved by what she believes is an angel. This leads to her renewed efforts to rescue Chris from J2.

The book means a lot to me, so I'm working extra hard on the art. Maybe part of me is afraid that people will think that the writing is no good, and by increasing the level of art I'm hoping to convince them I'm a better writer than I really am. J2 causes both outrage and adulation. Religious zealots either love or hate the show, angry politicians worry about its influence on the nation, and members of the scientific community fear the implications of cloning a human being at all, let alone the Son of God. Zorro: Man of the Dead #1-4 (script and art, with Matt Hollingsworth, Massive Publishing, January 2024 - April 2024) Plea of Personal Necessity: Slate begs for Thomas to spare him right before he gets thrown under the tires of an oncoming semi. And then, everything starts to fall apart, until the moment where Chris became what you see in the cover of the book.A few times I asked myself, “would this be as interesting if the clone wasn’t Jesus?” If you took away the Christ element, you would have a story of a boy and his mother broken by the manipulation of media and religion. I think we’d have a story with potential insight into our media-hungry world. The story never proves that Chris is a clone of Jesus. The scientist behind the cloning even has her doubts; she never saw them extracting the DNA from the shroud. Shout-Out: Several futuristic guns from various sci-fi films/series are seen throughout the story, including weapons from RoboCop, Blade Runner, Star Wars, Aliens and Appleseed. Outer Orbit (co-writer/co-artist/colorist, with Zach Howard, 4-issue mini-series, Dark Horse Comics, 2006 – 2007) Murphy lives in Portland, Maine with his wife Katana Collins, having moved there from Brooklyn in 2016. [12] [13] Murphy was raised a Catholic, but is now an atheist. [7] Bibliography [ edit ] Full-length comics [ edit ]
