If ever there was a textbook on how to write the perfect finale to a series, Gods & Monsters would, in my mind, indisputably be the perfect example to cite. It wasn’t until finishing Gods & Monsters that I realized, wow, I haven’t read any final books in a series that I truly and throughly enjoyed. Somehow, Shelby Mahurin wove a book that is not only full of action, romance, and laughs, but she also somehow wrapped it and the entire series up in such a tidy and satisfactory way that I’m actually wondering if witchcraft is a side-hustle of hers. Though Lou and Reid's relationship issues did start to bother me after a while - even though it really did make sense and I get that they both have things to deal with - I just wanted them to be okay with each other. ((But maybe that's because I want them to be happy so badly.)) There were times I wanted to scream at them: COMMUNICATION IS KEYY GUYS What’s more, the Milne estate should probably look upon this film with nothing but pride. True, they aren’t going to see any money out of it, but the simple fact that Winnie the Pooh has endured for this long – the character is now 95 years old – while remaining so indelible that he can still be an instantly recognisable cultural touchstone in a micro-budget exploitative horror movie is a triumph in itself. Deep down, anyone involved in the creative industries would be happy to learn that something they invented will be singled out for a classless gore-fest like this a century from now. I know I’d be thrilled.

This is an interesting one here I think. We have Morgane as the obvious villian. King Auguste who just seems like an asshole. I am completely unsure of Madame Labelle’s motives but I don’t think she’s a bad person. I think La Voisin and Nicholina are kind of working with Morgane but also for themselves. I think they want to destroy the leadership of the Dame Blanche and reverse the roles. I think they’re in this for revenge. I don’t trust them though at all. The last scene it seems like they do some kind of magic on Lou and I’m not sure how that will play out but it worries me. I think the chasseurs aren’t exactly bad but they’re kind of in over their heads now. I think by the end of the book we will see the end of witch hunting as well as the deaths of the king, Morgane and La Voisin. Advice: please reread S&D before starting this book. It will be highly confusing because we jump straight into the story with no explanation. And until publishers normalise recaps at the beginning of books (hint hint) it's up to us to refresh our memories. The book was extremely predictable. I don't think there was anything that surprised me. It wasn't even that the foreshdowing was obvious or bad. The thing is there was no foreshadowing. Nothing. It just felt obvious from the start. It wouldn't take a genius to guess what happenes in more than 75% of the book. Usually something bad happens, they have to fix said bad thing, but oh no something gets in their way that they conveniently fix in less than five minutes.

i cant technically say this is also a filler because its the last book, but it definitely has that feel for the bulk of it. i honestly dont know why this series wasnt kept as a duology. adding another book made the last two feel stretched out too thin and suffer content-wise. how it should have been: the last 1/3 of ‘blood & honey’ plus the first 1/3 and last 1/3 of ‘gods & monsters.’ it would have been a great conclusion like that! In Blood & Honey we see Lou spiral into madness and her magic. I had real vibes of Lady Macbeth and Cersei when reading some of Lou’s chapters as there were times when she was quite cruel. This must be the result of the memory removal changing her personality. I desperately hope it can be fixed in the third book as, even though she agreed to stop, her encounter at the end of the book makes me think all will not be as it seems. I worry for one of my favourite characters. She has put herself in quite a dark place and this has torn holes in who she is. The last part of the book she is much less ‘mad’ with the help of friends she see’s she is turning into Morgane and she doesn’t want that. I think we still have a way to go with Lou. I worry about how Ansel’s death will be a part of her in the next book, I worry that we have’t seen the extent of her madess and it will get worse before it truly gets better. However, I am hopeful that good will win against evil and even though everything requires a balance I hope Lou and Reid get their happy ending. I won't say this book is frustrating (but it is); it seems like there is one frustrating thing after the other and they all keep giving me no breaks; a b " Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)". Reuters. 21 March 2023.Since the disappointment from the last instalment, I started the book without any expectations, though I did hope it wouldn't be a letdown. And I guess it helps because the book ends up being passable. Also, that epilogue killed me. It was so bittersweet and sad, yet so uplifting and hopeful. I almost started crying, partially because of the book and partially for other reasons, but still, it made me emotional. However, this also means that they are purposefully stretching out a story that does not need to be stretched out. I love me a trilogy — but some stories do not require that extra book. Because then we end up with the dreaded Second Book Curse. You know what I'm talking about. Haas, Benjamin (7 August 2018). "China bans Winnie the Pooh film after comparisons to President Xi".

After the heartbreaking events of Blood and Honey, our cast of characters are even more determined to seek vengence, but to do that they will first have to learn how to handle their grief. Lou is different. A darkness has settle over her and it will take a lot more than expected to drive it out. This darkness might actually ruin everything. There were parts that made me sad too, that throughout the book, particularly when Reid is without Lou, he is desperately seeking connection with someone. He doesn’t have Lou, or Ansel. His mother is kinda infuriating to be honest. He killed his father figure. He’s alone. He’s against everything he thought he knew. He seeks family. It really makes me sad because right now the last thing he needs is being hunted down, he needs some time to discover himself and figure things out. I guess there’s nothing like putting someone under pressure to work that out though! On Lou LeBlanc So, in Blood & Honey I felt like the plot was really slow, boring, and confusing in the first half and then the second half had more action and adventure and the same exact thing happened in this book. The beginning was so confusing and slow, but when we transitioned towards the ending, it became really fast-paced and entertaining. The story follows Lou, Reid, and the gang on the run from Lou’s crazy witch overlord of a mother, while they simultaneously search for people (and werewolves) to join in their fight against Morgane. Yet, emotional tensions run high, and every character is all up in their feelings.
