As for some reformulation, the scent that I have now is very close to that Deodorant I was used to. They smell the same basically. So, I´m sure what I knew that time (early 90's) is the same I´m smelling today. And so I´m glad to have bought it.

Although that’s the short answer, let’s go through the main differences between these two variations of fragrance in more detail, and also go through how to choose between them. With so many different variations of fragrance out there, whether it be cologne, eau de parfum or aftershave, it can be confusing to know what you should be using. The actual fragrance that goes into both Brut Splash On and Brut Aftershave is pretty much the same. In both, you get notes of citrus, and greens with undertones of sandalwood.

This is in keeping with its intended use as an aftershave, which is a type of fragrance generally used post-shave to help tighten pores while also adding a nice scent. The higher alcohol content together with the propylene glycol in the splash on essentially means that the Brut Splash On is likely to last longer on the skin compared with the Brut Aftershave, which contains less alcohol. The Splash On is mild enough that it did not interfere with my subsequent perception of the colognes I wore. It actually blended in quite nicely with other powdery barbershop fragrances like Paco Rabanne and Azzaro Pour Homme. Although this might not be as large of a deciding factor, where you apply your chosen perfumed product can still be important.
