Dice Souls manages to capture Dark Souls’ tough difficulty and live-die-repeat spirit, while also providing plenty of opportunity to tell stories in its atmospheric setting. A clever balance of gameplay and theme, it lives up to its name. Strike first, strike fast, and vanish into the shadows. That’s what the assassin does, and they’re very good at it. It’s also not a bad way of staying alive, especially if you’ve got a party of fellow adventurers around you to distract the terrifying creatures lunging out of the darkness! The Warrior Reflecting the Souls games’ use of poise in their tight melee combat, players can also gain poise points, which are spent to use their character’s ability and change their current stance to modify dice rolls.
