So let’s dissect that. First, Romance is an important aspect of the plot and it does contain romantic elements. But it’s also YA, or Young Adult, meaning that it’s meant for ages 13 to 17. This book just felt like a giant ode to political correctness. Characters personalties and mannerisms were changed, whole characters were added for no apparent reason and served no real function and real depth was destroyed all in favor of not being perceived as insensitive or offensive. I’m tired of authors changing a series that was already wonderful to fit the standards of culture. This series was beloved as it was, people wanted to read the new book because they wanted a continuation of the narrative that already existed. And if Mafi wanted to add characters / change narratives, at least make them matter more than just being throw away appeasement filler. In the sixteen days since I shot Anderson in the forehead I have faced zero opposition. No one has tried to arrest me. No other supreme commanders have challenged me. sloane just needed a hug and to stop catering to everyone else in her life. she was an amazing heroine and her respect for her husband’s family was such a sweet part of the story. but i’m sorry sloane, dom is the absolute star of the show here. Juliette is not allowed to see much of Adam. Adam is having tests to find out why he is immune to Juliette’s powers but he won’t tell her how they are going.Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series has sold more than a million books. It’s a YA dystopian series centering around a girl named Juliette. Juliette has a very unique power in that anyone she touches dies. This book is told in alternating view points, from the perspectives of Juliette and Warner. I really love that Tahereh decided to tell the story this way and give us glimpse into their thoughts and everything they were feeling, as they both had so much going on, internally and externally. Also, I don't stand behind the empowering feeling she had because of her shaved head, since she only did it because she was drunk. It's distasteful tbh, and pretty much ruins the beauty is not only physical theme. You give Nazeera a hijab that not only shows power to her as a woman but also power in her beliefs, but the valley girl gets a little drunk and heartbroken...just sayin LOL, but yeah whatever. What do I know. You do you girl.
