About this deal

Measured by us amounted to 6.65 ±0.04 degrees and it was even a big wider than stated in official specifications. Optics are sealed with O-rings to prevent moisture, dust and debris from getting inside the binocular

There is some debate as to the advantages of one over the other but the theory is that the Argon molecule is larger than Nitrogen and so is more resistant to diffusion or leaking out of the device. The optical performance of the Vortex Viper HD is every bit as impressive as its build quality and ergonomics. The image is bright and crisp with excellent contrast and superb detail. It is understandable from the figure that why the hunters hold the largest share in the optics market. They are always on the outlook for sturdy, crisp, robust and ergonomic binoculars which cover a wide area as well. However, since the vortex binocular has a supportive chest harness, this one ounce will not affect you.

Wow, I posted this in another thread. It was buried under a bunch of toxic crap and brand loyalty and brand distrust. Here is my honest review after a couple months of ownership: The sweet spot in the centre of the Viper’s field of view is large, and extremely sharp and detailed. There is very little fall-off in that detail as you move out towards the edges. Thanks to the HD glass chromatic aberration is very well controlled right across the field of view too. I couldn’t find any evidence of colour fringing unless I really pushed things — focusing on really high-contrast subjects at the very limits of the field of view for example. In normal viewing conditions it wasn’t noticeable at all, even when I was looking for it.

From the tough rubber coating to the broad and easy to reach focus adjuster, it’s clear these are the kind of class act we’ve come to expect from Vortex. The Viper HD binoculars contain the company’s HD optics, which are multicoated for better light transmission and extra-low dispersion to correct for colored fringing - something especially important in the high-contrast views you get of the Moon, for example. The roof prism is a Bak-4 design, with phase correction coatings to really boost that contrast. Despite being lightweight, holding binoculars up to the sky for long periods can be tiring, so there's a tripod mount provided, though you’ll need to buy an adapter separately.
