About this deal

The grass box on the WORX WG779E.2 is very easy to remove by simply lifting the flap and unhooking. The grass clippings empty from the box with no obstructions. This is a hard topped collection box with a carry handle at the top. What I really like about the WORX WG779E.2 is the addition of a removable safety key that disables the lawn mower to help prevent accidental starting. This is a nice feature not found on similar cordless mowers that gives peace of mind around children. The key has a cord that is attached to the handle so making it almost impossible to misplace. You wouldn’t expect a modern lawn mower to be without a mulching mode and the WORX WG734E.1 doesn’t disappoint. It features a handy mulching mode that can be easily activated leaving you with perfect mulch for your garden every time. I had to look hard to find faults with this lawn mower, so I would definitely recommend buying the Worx WG779E and this is why I have given it five stars. The battery life is great and it has more than enough power for the job. When you consider its size and price point, that is no mean feat. The 4.0Ah also weighs more than the smaller, 2.0Ah so this might affect your decision if you are looking to powershare the battery with other Worx tools. While a heavier battery is not that noticeable in a mower, you might want to use the lighter 2.0Ah in things like cordless drills. However, the 4.0Ah is comparable in size and weight to the large batteries I have used on cordless drills from multiple brands and well worth the extra expense if you want the benefit or longer cutting times (a must for larger gardens).

For example, the 20mm setting is one of the lowest settings on any mower, meaning an incredibly close cut to the lawn. While it is recommended to use this setting all the time, people that mow frequently during peak growing season can use this setting to produce a neat and tidy cut close to the ground, like on an ornamental lawn. WORX introduced the two 20v batteries in 2018 to enable compatibility with their other cordless power tools of which there are 40 in the range. The two WORX batteries can be charged at the same time and the WORX WG779E.2 comes with an eco mode for lighter cuts, reducing the power and extending the cutting time. But what can we expect from this product? Is it worth the money and will it perform as well as we would expect? Let’s take a look. Main Features Furthermore, the addition of the carry handle means that moving the mower from one end of the garden to the other is effortless.

Of course, the cordless design means that you’ll no longer have to avoid mowing over the cord which, as we know, only serves to get in the way and often poses a safety hazard. Safety Features When mowing, the WG779E performed excellently on my medium-sized garden, its cut-to-edge design allowing me to get closer to fences without digging out my strimmer afterwards. The WORX WG743E.1 is an excellent option if you’re looking for a diverse lawn mower, and this is all thanks to the variable height adjustments that it offers. Do you like a striped lawn? Well the WORX does have a roller at the rear that gives that lovely striped look to your lawn. The roller also has suspension allowing it to adapt better to the contours of your lawn. This is another advantage over the Flymo 300 – if you like striped lawns that is! The handle folds away for easy storage so it won’t end up taking up masses of space in your shed or outbuilding. Furthermore there are two feet at the rear of the mower allowing you to store this product vertically, saving even more space.

WORX batteries are covered by a 1 Year Limited Consumer Warranty and are not eligible for warranty extension. The mower is light and easy to turn on its side for cleaning. I just use a stiff hand brush to sweep leftover grass from the blade area, base and wheels before I put it away. My first cut was on long, messy grass. There are patches of couch grass in my lawn and a few straggly dandelions so I thought I might have left it a bit long between cuts. You can change the cutting height using the lever on the front of the mower and on my first cut I left it high as I thought it could benefit from a pre-trim. In retrospect it didn't need it and would have handled the longer patches of grass with ease (and has since). There are six height positions to choose from, with the minimum being 20 millimetres while the highest is 70 millimetres. You can start at a higher setting and go down as you progress so that small grass will not miss a piece of the action. WORX WG779E.2 Cutting Diameter

Flymo PowerVac 3000 Review: Zero Hot Air

You can easily change the cutting height from two centimetres up to seven centimetres, using a handle by the front wheels. My lawn was a little overgrown before the first use, so to avoid battling with long grass, I set the mower to it's highest length to trim it ahead of trying a lower grade. This was unnecessary based on use since – the mower makes light work of even dense couch grass and weeds that have been left to run wild. The battery power indicator will give you a clear idea of how much juice you have left, so that you’ll never run out unexpectedly. But where power is concerned, there’s nothing quite as impressive as the super-fast dual charger that’s included in the box. With a maximum charge time of just one hour, no time is wasted. With the batteries in all you need to do is attach the grass box and insert the safety key – a handy feature to prevent kids from taking the mower for a spin. Then press the bar on the handle to operate.

The ability to take advantage of Worx's PowerShare battery system is a big pull, too. Being able to use the same batteries and chargers for all your power tools makes storage and use more streamlined. Does this make it more practical compared to its closest competition? Well, yes I think it does for people with smaller lawns and limited space for storage. There is also a very handy and well positioned large central handle that makes carrying the 13 kg mower to the garage or shed very easy. To maximize battery run time, set the mower to eco mode. This should give you an average of 45 minutes of battery life. One thing the Flymo 300 scores slightly higher is the height adjustment. On the Flymo 300 there is a single lever on the top side of the mower with a large handle, this makes adjusting the height very smooth and easy. The height adjustment on the WG779E.2 is smaller and located towards the front of the mower. Adjustment seems to be that bit more difficult with the WORX and not so nicely balanced as with the Flymo. This is no big deal as you are not constantly adjusting the height but worth a mention anyway. One of the most notable things about the power system here is that the rechargeable batteries are power shareable, so if you’ve got other WORX tools in the shed, you’ve now got two spare batteries. For example, the easy-start feature is far more preferable to the pulling/recoil method of the petrol lawn mower which, if you’ve ever used you will know, can be a nightmare and often painful to start. The easy-on safety switch works like a charm. WORX WG743E.1 User Manual A 30L grass collector is included with the WG779E.2, meaning you won’t need to stop it during your mowing to empty the box. This capacity is perfect for smaller lawns, having ample space for lots of clippings, even on those mows where you remove a lot of length from the lawn. This really will make lawn care much easier and really makes the entire experience much less dependent on you struggling with a heavy oversized mower. What’s more, unlike a plastic blade, steel will offer a much sharper and cleaner cut leaving you with a lawn you can be proud of. Not to mention the advantage that steel blades can easily be sharpened, when needed, providing a longer life-spam. Height Adjustment
