The key question to ask firstly is what style of player are you, or what type of player do you want to become? The 99 Play is the beginner and budget-friendly version, whereas the Game is suitable for intermediate players. The Tour and Pro are for advanced players and above due to their stiffness. The New Built-In T-Joint, also found in the Astrox 88D Pro, provides a different type of benefit for the Astrox 88S Pro users. As a player who enjoys the technical and precise game play, the New Built-In T-Joint’s ability to stabilize the shuttle provides increased control.

The feel was there, delivery good and the shuttle felt solid on the stringbed. Again, there doesn’t appear to be the same speed as Astrox 88D and was possibly a touch slower and similar to 88S. The shots were still very good and I did detect a slightly better angle on some of the shots, or am I being swayed by the marketing? Yes, Astrox 99 is very head heavy and stiff. It feels like it’s even more head heavy than Astrox 88d. We felt that the balance of Astrox 99 is pretty close to the center of the string bed during our test.
