About this deal

Amino acids are another name for protein. As you see from the nutrition facts, there are zero grams of protein per serving. Sure there are trace amounts of up to 17 amino acids, but the amounts are so trivial they don’t really matter for nutrition. The result has been success on many levels, not the least of which is a viable living wage for all of the producers. Now, one of the reasons that people consider eating coconut nectar is because they are on one kind of diet or the other. Some individuals may count calories for weight management or be adhering to a more naturalistic diet like paleo.

In some places, they climb the tree several times a day while in other places a spider’s web of ropes lets the harvester move from tree to tree without coming down. The nutrient-rich sap has 17 amino acids, a range of minerals and can be fermented into cider which then makes a vinegar better than famed apple cider vinegar. The fresh sap can also be reduced to make syrup or crystallised into sugar. Mixes of syrup, vinegar and spices are further blended, fermented and aged to produce a range of delicious sauces known for their flavour and nutritional profile. Unlike whole fruits which have fiber to slow their digestion, coconut blossom nectar is a refined sugar. It has been filtered, partially evaporated, and possibly pasteurized. It’s not Paleo and the Whole 30 diet categorizes it the same as other refined sweeteners. Again, like honey, maple syrup has a distinctive taste which means you’ll always know that its maple syrup being used as the sweet-element. Great if you want that, not so great if you don’t want such a dominant flavour. What this means is that all trees used to make coconut sugar or nectar are designated for such purposes. Many times, older coconut palms (50 years or older) offer a dual purpose of providing shade canopies for native populations. They oversee a number of small cooperative maintained "sugarhouses" and directly own and operate multiple coconut palm nectar processing facilities to ensure final quality assurance for all our coconut palm sugar products.

Our organic dark coconut blossom syrup is a delicious alternative to honey, agave nectar and other golden liquid syrups. It has a rich sweet caramel flavour and is considered to have a much lower glycemic index than the majority of other sugars. It also contains many useful micronutrients. Probably not. The reason agave has a low GI value is because it’s almost entirely made of fructose (90% or more). The glycemic index only evaluates the glucose in food, not the fructose which is processed by the liver instead of the small intestines. Honey in its most natural and raw form, is a weighty competitor when it comes to natural sweetness. However, the honey that ends up on our breakfast table isn’t the same thing. This honey is farmed in enormous quantities and undergoes a pasteurisation process that also unfortunately zaps all the wonder stuff it contains, such as minerals, enzymes and the pollen it was made from. The only ingredients used in the original Coco Aminos flavor are coconut blossom nectar, water, and sea salt. Gingery Lime and Tangy BBQ include additional ingredients for flavoring.

Coconut palms have been traditionally tapped for their sweet nectar for centuries throughout the tropics, especially in the Philippines and parts of Indonesia. Our sustainable supply chain manages direct producer programs in value addition education and practice, market access and small business/cooperative management. This biggest difference here is plastic vs. glass. This ultimately comes down to personal preference; while some prefer the clumsiness afforded by plastic, others prefer having their sauces in glass containers. Size Coconut Nectar is high in mineral content. It is a rich source of potassium, magnesium, zinc and iron. It also contains Vitamin B1, B2, B3 and B6. Coconut Nectar is completely natural, unrefined, unfiltered and preservative free.PAHs are very bad substances that can be formed when something burns. Since coconut blossom sugar is heated, we test for the presence of PAHs. We know that very few coconut blossom sugar brands do this, because of the cost element. It goes without saying that we do test it and therefore can always guarantee a safe and pure product! Coconut Secret says the nectar has a GI of 35, Big Tree Farms only says its “low-glycemic verified” and the brand Wholesome is silent on the topic altogether. If the value is 35 it would qualify as a low GI food, however the only brand reporting that number doesn’t provide the source.

Our coconut nectar supplier Aliet Green works with over 300 organic coconut farmers in Yogyakarta, Indonesia to produce the world’s most incredible sweetener; coconut palm sugar and nectar. Palm sugars are the world’s oldest sweeteners with over 6,000 years of history and perhaps nowhere else on earth are these sweeteners integrated so completely into both cuisine and traditional healing. One has to wonder if they actually conducted testing for their syrup? Or are they just citing that same 35 number that has been floating around for ages? Before the producers were considered some of the most marginalized and poor in the country. Income, education and access to basic services was very low and in some cases. a b "Coconut Sugar (Gula Jawa, Gula Merah) | Indonesia Eats | Authentic Online Indonesian Food Recipes" . Retrieved 2018-12-13.The coconut nectar to sugar ratio can vary greatly depending on how much moisture is left in the syrup. When there’s more water, it means less sugar content per teaspoon and vice-versa. To a lesser extent, the time of year it’s harvested also affects the content.
