About this deal

Card Draw. The card draw here is all good, a nice mix of incremental and burst draw. The only problem is that I want more. At least Leinore, Autumn Sovereign defaults to the command zone, but even so, gimme more, please. Coven is a new mechanic from this set, so there are sure to be a bunch of great options in it. Some of them come with the precon, but here are the ones that don’t: Our first of two money cards in Undead Unleashed is Curse of the Restless Dead, a card unique to this set. For only three mana even your land drops will generate zombie tokens for you. You can also enchant your opponent if you think they’ll be making more land drops than you, although they may hold their lands in hand if you do so. I don’t think this card is game breaking on its own but it can do some serious damage paired with the right sacrifice outlet. Herd Baloth, a relative newcomer from Modern Horizons 2, is another great way to give you extra value for simply executing your game plan. You’ll never be short of a spare +1/+1 counter to place on it, so it’s child’s play to turn Herd Baloth into another one-card army! Additional Upgrades

It’s 7 mana, but you can cheat it out as an ETB and creates 4 tokens. Many things are linked specifically to creatures so anytime you are making a lot of creatures at once that is powerful, and there’s certainly power in having a lot of deathtouch. card draw; Leinore, Autumn Sovereign, Wall of Mourning, Inspiring Call, Shamanic Revelation, Lifecrafter's BestiaryAlso, feel free to include some +1/+1 counters cards from the previous section in here as well. And if you are wondering about adding more Humans to trigger Kyler’s ability, don’t worry. We’re getting there. New Cards From Innistrad: Midnight Hunt Anything that doesn’t compliment either the main game plan or bolster any of the pillars of the upgrade will be replaced by something better suited. +1/+1 Counters Coven Counters - Leinore, Autumn Sovereign (PreCon) Coven Counters - Leinore, Autumn Sovereign (PreCon) Coven Counters - Leinore, Autumn Sovereign (PreCon) The early benefit of the +1/+1 tokens is underlined by Abzan Falconer and Ainok Bond-Kin, which offer us first strike and flying ability. He’s strong enough with his abilities, but even the additional oomph added by Increasing Devotion makes it a must-run card to drag yourself out of a tough situation.

If you really are hellbent on making it work, though, I think there is one card that matters more than any other to do so: Maskwood Nexus. A lot of Nobles happen to care about other creature types. For example: Straight out of the gate, I’d replace Somberwald Beastmaster and Enduring Scalelord with Hamza, Guardian of Arashin and Felidar Retreat (or Cathar’s Crusade if you have it). Double up on cost reductions while giving yourself free value for just playing a land for a turn. Need a way to trigger Coven? Create a 2/2 Cat. Want to buff your squad? Give everything +1/+1 and Vigilance! Powerful and varied synergies between the cards. A decent number of good tutors. Good mana curve. Has an efficient and consistent way to win on turns 10-12 (level 7) or 7-9 (level 8). Some social rules — like no mass land destruction, no consistent combo wins — still exist.

The benefit of coven

Citadel Siege gives the player two options, depending on the tactic: put two +1/+1 tokens on your own creature at the beginning of the combat phase, or tap one of your opponent’s creatures at the beginning of the combat phase. This combos decently with the commander, and lets you swing no matter what, but since it’s conditional on it being your turn it’s of limited use in my opinon. Though it tries to flesh out two main ideas, one being “Zombie Tribal” and another being “ Sacrifice Matters/ Aristocrats”, both are supported by the Decayed tokens since they’ve become cheap fodder for the endless hum of the machine. This is a sort of durdle card, but in that sense pretty powerful, generating huge amounts of mana for power is quite useful, and this one allows you to generate mana of any color, most of the tap for x mana equal to power only generate green mana, but for infinite combos like Pemmin’s Aura or Freed from the Reel, blue mana is required. Also potentially quite strong with Kenrith, Returned King. You’re trading 1 card to “draw 3,” which is only possible if you have 3 or more Creatures with different powers, and even then you put 1 card, mind you, one card in your hand.
