Spring is a season for planting. Ask yourself what types of seeds of character you want to plant in your heart, so they blossom by fall. Pray for help in tending and cultivating these attributes with loving care. A Spring Prayer

The prayers that get said the least in Paganism, I’ve noticed, are prayers of praise. Because our gods aren’t omnipotent or omnibenevolent, it seems that idea has entered the movement that they are unworthy of us saying, “You’re really awesome.” But the fact is, our gods are really awesome. They have amazing stories and fantastic powers. Some of them are gentle, others are downright badass. But they’re ancient and powerful and wise and worthy of veneration for those reasons and ma A Heathen funeral may require you to bring your own drinking horn to toast the deceased (usually with mead). If a drinking horn is passed to you, it is often customary to deliver some words or a poem about the deceased before taking a sip (or kissing the horn) and passing it on. The Wake Spring’s theme centers on earth’s renewal, so consider those things you want to restore or revitalize in your own life. All around the earth is budding with new life. If you have been considering having a child, now is an excellent time to pray for that blessing. Thanks to the ever-whimsical spring winds, this is also the perfect season to ask for help in gaining new perspectives, refreshed outlooks, and an improved sense of humor. But it is common for Wiccans to want to include non-Wiccan or non-initiate family and friends, in which case no primary text exists to draw from. You’d likely hear poetry written and published by prominent members of those communities. Gardnerian High Priestess Doreen Valiente wrote a poem following the passing of Robert Cochrane entitled Elegy For A Dead Witch, which has frequently been reused in modern pagan funerals. How to Use Ancestor Prayer Beads

Offerings are simple. They can be anything your god or goddess would enjoy: food, beverage, water, incense, herbal blends, art, crystals, candle flame, dance and poetry. Some gods enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. Some enjoy a portion of your dinner at night. While others prefer the scent of patchouli incense. Incorporate offerings into your daily routine and watch the blessings roll in! Take time in the morning while you’re getting ready for the day or take time just before falling asleep to say a simple prayer to the gods. Prayers of gratitude are best. The more grateful we are for the gods’ presence in our lives, the more blessings roll in. 19. Visit the Garden If you’re looking for something to add to your spiritual practice, then consider getting some prayer beads. Examples of pagan rosary adaptations Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us for hurting our Mother the Earth. Help us to teach others The Way of Caring. And lead us from destruction by delivering us from ignorance and greed.

Just as you pray to the gods, pray to your ancestors as well. They enjoy hearing from you too. It doesn’t have to be a complicated prayer. Talk to them as if they’re right there with you. 26. Freshen Up Your Altar The Pagan tradition centres on the reverence of the natural world, so many opt for the most natural form of interment. A natural burial involves the burial of the deceased in a way that would encourage its decomposition and the fertility of the land in which it’s interred. On nights when the clouds are clear, go outside and gaze at the moon. Feel the lunar rays on your skin. 28. Plan the Next Sabbat

Wherever a relationship has grown cool, bring warmth. Wherever secrets dwell, let them be revealed. Wherever any lingering darkness hides, chase it away with brilliant light. Let the embers that embody you ignite in me a love-based passion: for my job, for my art, for my mate, or for just cause for all that is my life. So be it.” Pagan Prayer for the Season of Fall I have no patron God or Goddess. How do I reconcile this with prayer and developing a spiritual practice? My intention with this book had been to use the section on writing one’s own prayers to craft my own prayers for spiritworking and for my ancestors. But as many of the prayers assume the reader worships gods - which I do not - I didn’t find the book terribly useful for my purposes. I thought perhaps I could even modify some of the suggested prayers for my own uses. But the focus on the Wiccan Lord and the Lady or gods from various European pantheons makes modifying the prayers for my folk witchcraft purposes mostly useless.

As I move into fall, teach me balance. Let me know the wonders of both sounds and silences, rest and action, the temporal and spiritual. As I walk the Path of Beauty, keep my eyes on the horizon, but my feet grounded in truth. So be it.” Pagan Prayer for the Season of Winter Glory Be to Life-Giving Gaia, And to the Sun for His Light and His Warmth, and to the Great Spirit that dwells in all Living things on Earth. As it Was in the beginning , is now And ever shall be, World Divinely created and without end. Second, they encourage you to develop a personal relationship with the gods. Third, they help you to remember your prayers throughout the day. Fourth, they provide a physical reminder of your prayers. As the annual wheel turns, Wiccans honor earth’s cycles with rituals, spells, and prayers. We do this to bring ourselves into closer harmony with nature and the universe. As time’s wheel also marches forward, this harmony becomes increasingly important. We cannot lose sight of the Earth Mother and her needs in serving our own, now or in the future. As Pagans have no public buildings specifically set aside for worship, and most believe that religious ceremonies are best conducted out of doors, rituals often take place in woods or caves, on hilltops, or along the seashore. To Pagans the finest places of worship are those not built by human hands - as well as at stone circles, in parks, and private homes and gardens. Women and men almost always worship together and Paganism generally emphasises equality of the sexes. In certain paths, however, women may take the leading role as representative of the pre-eminence of the female principle.

The second exception is one where there seems to be no recipient at all. These prayers come across as simple poems that express a situation. But even here there is a recipient. The situation itself is sacred and may be seen as receiving the prayer. Or the recipients may be all those who hear the prayer, even if it is only a single person. And it is not the ordinary people, but the part of them that is identified as sacred. By treating the person as sacred, they are raised to a status of a numinous being who may appropriately receive prayer.
