About this deal

I love Arthur Kayzakian's The Book of Redacted Paintings for its lyricism and its honestly which comes at us not directly but by way of images and music and always speaks in tongues in a way that alerts and awakens. There is both hunger and wisdom in these poems, both silence inside the singing and the fresh music out of rooms that might have been silenced once. Not any more! The new, original, inimitable poet is in the room. Kayzakian deserves our warmest welcome."

Reading the original words can be very uncomfortable but they help us understand regressive politics and the dangerous legacy of British colonialism with a modern eye. Denying Fleming’s stories all the details of their historical contexts can be perceived as whitewashing the past – worse, an Orwellian falsification that reeks of historical denialism. The imperialist attitudes the books depict are not only evidence of British thought at a moment in time, but also a window to better interrogate the past’s sins and to embrace modern conversations rather than ignore them through redaction. Although they were learning about different religious beliefs, they did not learn about all the categories of people covered in equality law. “Pupils are not taught about gender identity, or the legal rights given to LGBT people,” Ofsted said. However Kill [redacted] isn’t a predictable action thriller, and Michael isn’t quite the usual gung-ho vigilante. He’s a rather pedantic retired headmaster. As the novel develops, we learn, through a series of disjointed notes apparently prepared by Michael for his therapist, about his life, his family and the events that shaped his decision. I had to keep reminding myself that this is a work of fiction because the thoughts and feelings of Micheal are so intense it’s almost as if I actually was reading the private thoughts of an actual person. Waltzing through the darkling journal of a brilliant mind put to serious misuse, Kill [redacted] is a powerful and provocative exploration of the contours of grief and the limits of moral justice, and a blazing condemnation of all those who hold, and abuse, power. In The Book of Redacted Paintings, the narrative arc follows a boy in search of his father's painting, but it is unclear whether the painting exists or not. The book, a poetry collection, is also populated by a series of paintings. Some are real, incomplete, and/or missing, while most are redacted from reality. The withdrawn paintings concept is the emotional arc of the book, a combination of wishing one could paint the pieces he/she/they envision and the feeling of something torn out of a person due to a traumatic upbringing. A sort of erasure ekphrasis, to foresee artwork that was never painted. Result: Subject demonstrated a moment of lucidity, demonstrating self awareness and interest in their surroundings. Lucidity lasted approximately 4 and half minutes, before the subject returned to their feral state.

In other cases, such as the NSA report on the USS Liberty incident (right), the report may be sanitized to remove all sensitive data, so that the report may be released to the general public. As is seen in the USS Liberty report, paper documents are usually sanitized by covering the classified and sensitive portions before photocopying the document. So we are delivered a story of the average man in the street, suffering intolerable mental torture as a result of a terrorist atrocity touching his family and friends. Whether you're a romance lover, a werewolf enthusiast, a fantasy fanatic, or just looking for something fun to do, there's always a story for you to read and enjoy on Readict. And we're adding new books every day. Redaction may administratively require marking of the redacted area with the reason that the content is being restricted. US government documents released under the Freedom of Information Act are marked with exemption codes that denote the reason why the content has been withheld. This is a very curious novel which I stumbled upon quite by chance, via the ebooks section of my local library. (I like that the title is stubbornly resistant to SEO; the ‘[redacted]’ section does not actually appear on the cover, and it was only listed as ‘Kill’ in the library’s catalogue.) There's paranoia in his day to day life now, and even when talking with the therapist he has an answer for everything, and can find no way of relating to his daughter which was the saddest part of the story. When the family should be pulling together, he's pulling it apart.

At the heart of the novel is a clever dissection of power and responsibility, in politics, in the classroom, in the home. Kill [redacted] is an original and smart literary thriller. Result: Without their higher brain functions the subject gave themselves completely over to the curse and became completely feral. They were incapable of reasoning and could not be calmed by any method. Subject terminated.Ian Fleming's novel Live and Let Die has been heavily redacted Penguin - Pan Censorship leading to revisionism The characters and writing was solid, and so I'm inclined to recommend the book. It was certainly a fascinating portrayal into the mind of the ordinary man conspiring to do something catastrophic and so seemingly contrary to his character. In these fraught political times, I do recommend this read. Hypothesis: The curse works by driving the kin into a rage due to the application of extreme pain. Removal of higher brain functions should alleviate the curse.
