To begin a new UCAS Conservatoires application, you will need to register. You can read the UCAS Conservatoires’ advice on completing the UCAS Conservatoires application. All of his build material had to be lightweight and non-intrusive so as not to damage the listed buildings along Bute Street. It is often helpful to provide supplementary evidence of your visit such as publicity material or personal notes and sketches to illustrate a point.

Havoc is up there as one of their most exciting jobs to date: "We've got to meet Tom Hardy and there's a lot of buzz surrounding this film," Tom said. "It's fantastic and it's really quite invigorating for the guys. With the public getting behind it, it really spurs us on and we want to do a good job." Candidates should attend their interview in person and bring all relevant work to the interview including their portfolio and, where relevant, examples of work such as costumes, small props, painted samples etc. You will discuss role options with your programme tutors. You will be expected to take the lead in determining which will be the most appropriate, but the final decision rests with the College. As well as an interview with two members of programme staff (approx. 30/40 minutes), you will also be offered a short tour of the Production Arts and Design facilities with a current student (15/20 mins) You will learn to work independently and be resourceful, and will develop specific scenic construction skills to the high professional level required to meet design briefs and the requirements of the industry in which you plan to work. The training will principally be in theatre, but these skills are widely transferable to many different media environments including theatre, film, television, events and advertising.Your cohort is small – only eight students in total – so you’ll receive a very high level of individual support and attention during your course. Covid means they have to work in bubbles and separate teams try not to mingle. "We do see Tom Hardy about but it's not like we say come and see our set," Tom laughed. "He's a very busy man."

For four of the industry partners to be within a mile radius of each other, it’s really cool and they’re all looking for people to work for them,‘ said Will. ‘So it’s great knowing that when we graduate the work is almost waiting there for us.’

Meet the Staff

Doctor Who was also "amazing fun" to work on while Benchmark was called on to help out on the set of War of the Worlds to build "quite an interesting spaceship". Tom has just finished working on the upcoming Grand Tour, Wales Special, but he can't really talk about that. Production Arts applicants should research previous productions and use existing designs to facilitate this task rather than spending unnecessary time on the design itself. Our passion and drive to create outstanding scenery, coupled with our experience, reputation and forward-thinking attitude makes us a clear choice to take on your next project. You will work on one or more realised projects or productions, either within the College, with a partner organisation, or in industry. Here you will apply your skills, further extending and broadening your knowledge and understanding of Scenic Arts functions, roles, relationships and structures in a variety of contexts.

Scenic Construction Apprentices learn to make scenery using a combination of materials such as timber and steel box sections: They measure, mark and cut materials accurately to size; building timber framed scenic flats, cladding steel frames and making other scenic elements prior to scenic artists finishing them. They also work closely with other team members to assemble elements of the set and fit them together for finishing, weighing and assembly prior to loading out. You will be required to identify your chosen major study subject at the point of application and your interview experience will be tailored to this choice. The five major subjects are;The BA Theatre Design and Production degree has so much to offer. Since graduating I have worked in many unusual spaces, including London’s oldest pie & mash shop, a derelict art school and Shakespeare’s Globe. I would not have been given these opportunities without the necessary experience that I gained during my time at UWTSD. It’s so much fun and has given me a really awesome career where I never know what’s around the corner!" It was the reincarnation of Doctor Who in 2005, spearheaded by Russell T Davies, that injected some energy into the film industry and that's when things took off "in a big way", Tom said.
