The training will principally be in theatre, but these skills are widely transferable to many different media environments including theatre, film, television, events and advertising.Your cohort is small – only eight students in total – so you’ll receive a very high level of individual support and attention during your course. Covid means they have to work in bubbles and separate teams try not to mingle. "We do see Tom Hardy about but it's not like we say come and see our set," Tom laughed. "He's a very busy man."

Doctor Who was also "amazing fun" to work on while Benchmark was called on to help out on the set of War of the Worlds to build "quite an interesting spaceship". Tom has just finished working on the upcoming Grand Tour, Wales Special, but he can't really talk about that. Production Arts applicants should research previous productions and use existing designs to facilitate this task rather than spending unnecessary time on the design itself. Here you will apply your skills, further extending and broadening your knowledge and understanding of Scenic Arts functions, roles, relationships and structures in a variety of contexts.

Scenic Construction Apprentices learn to make scenery using a combination of materials such as timber and steel box sections: They measure, mark and cut materials accurately to size; building timber framed scenic flats, cladding steel frames and making other scenic elements prior to scenic artists finishing them. They also work closely with other team members to assemble elements of the set and fit them together for finishing, weighing and assembly prior to loading out. You will be required to identify your chosen major study subject at the point of application and your interview experience will be tailored to this choice. The five major subjects are;The BA Theatre Design and Production degree has so much to offer. Since graduating I have worked in many unusual spaces, including London’s oldest pie & mash shop, a derelict art school and Shakespeare’s Globe. I would not have been given these opportunities without the necessary experience that I gained during my time at UWTSD.
