About this deal

I can't take you to the cops," I said. "That's just not possible. You understand that, right? I killed one. Maybe three. You saw me do it." Oh: my favourite author is Val McDermid. Lee Child could take some lessons from her. Try reading “The Grave Tattoo”. Reply I'm going to let you out near the highway," I said. "You can hitch a ride or call a cab and then you can forget all about me." Reacher decides to head to the city clerk to see his old family home, but is told that no one named Reacher has ever lived in the town. This leaves him with more questions than answers and he starts to look into things. As he explores his father’s life, his investigation and the danger the Canadians face begin to merge.

I was in the army. I was a military cop. I understand bodyguarding. And I understand collateral damage." The message is what draws their attention as the courier states that an American wants one hundred million dollars. They don’t know who is asking, who they are asking from, or what they are giving in return; and this group is tasked with finding all that out. Time isn’t on their side and all they know is that they need to find this man before an epic act of terrorism is committed. Their mission will send them from Langley to Hamburg, Jalalabad to Kiev as they try to stop this act of terror. Somewhere in the U.S. Army, someone is trying to set up Reacher as the fall guy in this case. Some men may go down without a fight, but Reacher is not that man. He’ll fight against an enemy he didn’t know he had and a conspiracy darker than he ever could’ve imagined.

Apparently it's widely considered to be one of the best of the Reacher-novels; I don't agree with that, but it's satisfying enough. Sure: "I broke every regulation and ignored every procedure in the book" -- but readers would expect nothing less. I am not keen on the idea of having two authors, regardless of who the second one is doing Reacher books. The character came from one mind and should continue to be that way. These collaborations on solid characters never work well. Reply Yeah we are trying to find better ways to list some of those series. Right now our system is set up so it has to display all for a multi-author series. Hopefully be able to get something sorted soon. Reply

It feels all wrong, and readers may well wonder what's gotten into Child: Reacher does have a code, and he seems to blow right through it here ..... Things get messy, of course, but Reacher does what he has to do -- and, of course, gets the job(s) done. Here, too, the action ratchets up as the novel progresses, and we learn just how bad a guy Quinn was: when Reacher reaches the scene that will then lead him to make sure Quinn gets his he: "threw up on the floor and then for the first time in more than twenty years I cried" -- so, yeah: pretty bad. I’m not sure why but I always imagine Reacher as a Jim Caviezel character. Maybe because the part he played on the show Person of Interest. I know he doesn’t have sandy colored hair but he’s who I see in my head when I read these books. ReplyThe road led straight to the gate. Behind the gate it changed to a long straight driveway. At the end of the driveway was a gray stone house. I could see it there at the end of the finger, right out in the ocean. Right beside the gate was a one-story lodge. Same design and same stone as the house, but much smaller and lower. It shared its foundations with the wall. I slowed and stopped the car in front of the gate. Excellent series, wonderful actors, I am thrilled to see Lee Childs books portrayed so well in a TV series, I am an avid fan and have read his books for many years, hope this series will continue! Reply I nodded. "Smart as we can get. It won't be missed until six tonight, maybe eight. Whenever the store closes. You'll be home long before then." An elite ex-military cop who left the service years ago, he's moved from place to place…without family…without possessions…without commitments.

Jack Reacher Books in Order by Lee Child 2 Ways to Read Jack Reacher Books in Order by Lee Child

Gone Tomorrow: It’s 2AM in New York City when Reacher is riding a subway car uptown. There are five other passengers on the subway and one of them isn’t okay. If you think Reacher isn’t going to do something about that, you haven’t been paying attention. Better Off Dead: When Reacher is out for a walk in the hot desert sun when he comes across a Jeep that has crashed into a tree with its driver slumped over the wheel. The woman isn’t dead, thankfully. There are a few recurring characters, but their relationship development with Reacher doesn’t change all that much. It’s not like you’ll skip ahead and find Reacher married with three kids and wonder how he got there. When the first movie had been announced I imagined Dolph Lundgren as Reacher. I know Dolph is a bit too old, but he is much better Reacher than shorty 😀 Reply As always, it is Reacher's all-consuming obsession with revenge, or at least with his personal interpretation of doling out justice, which pushes him far beyond the normal boundaries of physical endurance and acceptable risk. I’ve read just 7 or 8 Reacher books and love them, fresh but consistent. Also thought T. Cruise was – well …….. a foot short.

Persuader: A Jack Reacher Novel - Kindle edition by Child Persuader: A Jack Reacher Novel - Kindle edition by Child

At the age of 20, in 1974, Child entered Law School in Sheffield, England. It is said that he never intended to actually practice law. Upon graduation, he decided instead to get a job in commercial television and joined Granada TV in Manchester. Child would end up working there for 18 years before being fired as a result of “corporate restructuring.” During that time he wrote countless commercials, news stories and trailers. It was 1995 and Child was 40 years old. Deep Down: Reacher is called in by Military Intelligence and sent undercover on a mission. Classified talks about a state-of-the-art sniper rifle are being infiltrated and it’s up to Reacher to sniff off the mole. It’s meant to be a zero-danger mission with no weapons involved, but if there’s one thing Reacher knows it’s that things rarely turn out that way. He is a decorated military serviceman. Reacher buried his Silver Star with his Mother and has also received the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star and Purple Heart, to name a few. To say he has special “skills” is probably an understatement. In many of the novels, Reacher is in the wrong place at the wrong time but ends up using his skills to solve even the most perilous situations. In “Killing Floor”, for example, the first of the Reacher novels, Reacher is arrested for murder shortly after arriving in Margrave, Georgia. Staff parking," I said. "Customers are in and out all day long. Unpredictable. But store people are in there for the duration. Safer." I love the Reacher books. They fulfill a need for the hero we are all looking for. The guy who will stand up for what is “the right thing to do”.

He went quiet again. I matched him, mile for mile. Gave him time to think. We were almost out of Massachusetts. Reacher and Duffy cover what they can in the planning, and they think they've done a pretty good job.
