AproDerm Emollient Cream is slightly richer than AproDerm Colloidal Oat Cream, however, is still light and easily absorbed, whilst being cooling and moisturising. It can also be used as an effective soap substitute, to prevent the skin from drying out further. Any other emollient with low percentage urea can be used for maintenance following the treatment phase.

Yellow soft paraffin and wool fat (a waxy substance obtained from the wool of sheep) are both fats that provide a layer of oil on the surface of the skin. They prevent water evaporating from the skin surface, thus retaining moisture in the skin and helping the ichthammol penetrate dry scaly areas of skin. How do I use ichthammol ointment?
