About this deal

The shape is pretty good. This is very subjective but I believe most claw grip players would enjoy this shape as it is fairly comfortable for that grip style. Keep in mind this is the medium size, I have not used the small. I would say that the size of the medium is good for me with medium sized hands, the small would be hand-cramp inducing for me for sure. There are some concerns with quality control of the shell and gaps, the buttons and scroll wheel have shown some wobble.

Been using the Starlight-12 (M) Phantom as my main mouse for the last 3 months for incredibly extensive use including gaming and school, likely around 30+ hours of use per week. I'm also new to reviewing things and am only slightly into gaming mice hobby, so sorry if this ends up being an iffy review. The Starlight's were my first Finalmouse products, and spoilers, almost definitely my last. I ended up doing a couple of mods on the mouse to see how it would change. You can open up the mouse via the bottom two feet and removing two T5 screws, so the mods I did include: There are some quality control concerns with Finalmice, some people have had scroll wheels break or have creaky weak points in the shell. The sensor also only runs at 500 hz.In the end though, mouse accuracy is down to muscle memory with your mouse and sensitivity, whether you have a weightless mouse or a bowling ball, if you’re used to it and good with it, all the power to you. What about heavy mice? The Air58 is Finalmouse’s regular size ultralight mouse, featuring an ambidextrous shape similar to the FK series. I have no idea how the internals of a mouse work or how the sensor works... but if I had to guess, I feel like the sensor isn't getting enough power to it sometimes? Maybe the battery they use is just cheap or something and the sensor isn't receiving the power it needs properly. I don't know, but I don't have this issue on any other wireless mouse I own. This is pure speculation however as I said, I don't really know how it works. I should also note that I keep my mouse turned on all the time and I charge my mouse every single day when I go to bed at night so it shouldn't be a low battery issue. Another minor complaint is that it is micro usb and not usb-c. Not a big deal for most, but again worth noting.

Take your PC gaming to the next level with the Finalmouse Starlight-12 Pegasus Wireless mouse (medium). Weighing in at 47 grams, the Starlight-12 Pegasus is one of the lightest mice in the Finalmouse catalog, ensuring lightning precision and accuracy in-game. According to Finalmouse, the mouse features a resolution (dpi) of up to 20,000, and an IPS of approximately 450+ with integrated illumination. Finalmouse estimates an average battery life of around 160 hours, or average use case of around 3 weeks of gaming. The Finalmouse Starlight-12 Pegasus (medium) is made by gamers, for gamers, engineered to be one of the best mice for eSports. I don't think the mouse skates are shaped very well. They are pure ptfe which is nice, but if you are using a squishier pad such as an artisan soft or xsoft, the corners of the skates will dig into the pad. mouse skates that are rounder or cover more surface area dont have this issue. Minor complaint, but worth noting if you use that type of pad. https://preview.redd.it/3z4uc65c53j81.jpg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ff5f652d0ca5bdbd8750de94aef6a59482222d0 This mouse creaks a lot. It isn't quite as bad as the creaking on like the aerox 3 wireless... but this mouse still definitely creaks. There is a visible gap between the metal sides and the plastic bottom plate. When squeezing the sides of the mouse even just a bit, you can push the sides in until they touch the bottom plastic plate. You can feel it creak in your hand a bit and you can feel the walls push in. Again, this is the medium sized starlight-12, I can't say for certain if the small is the same. I imagine with a smaller more compact design, that could lead to it being a little more sturdy. The medium does seem to have this issue though. To no one's surprise, this mouse was a let down. My overall impression of the mouse has been getting lower and lower, and although this mouse is perhaps my best performing mouse at the moment, it says a lot when I'm looking more forward to finding a better mouse, than continuing to use this one (Viper Mini Ultimate anyone?). Yes, I've put a lot of hours into this mouse, but for being a "mouse that will last generations," the generation that this mouse is lasting seems to be awfully short. All the positives of the mouse come at a significant cost, while the UL2 is one of the best mice I’ve used, I’m not sure if the price justifies it, it’s also very hard to find. The mouse itself has a sensor that only runs at 500 hz. The Viper Mini does a good job of shrinking down the OG Viper shape, making it a great ambidextrous mouse for claw and finger tip grips. The Viper Mini sheds its grippy skin from the bigger Viper, Now this is where things get iffy. Finalmouse uses a T5 Torx screw, and by god these are some of my least favorite screws in existence. I understand that they were used for weight purposes, but these screws are some of the easiest to strip screws ever. After doing my first set of mods with the aluminum tape in the mouse, I ended up stripping one of the screws because of how small they are, meaning I can no longer open up and mod my mouse. For most people, it may not be of worry, but for enthusiasts, this is a major let down. Also, because of how the T5 screw is placed, it is VERY difficult to get out once stripped. A massive bummer because if this mouse ever breaks, I'll have to send it for an RMA or do some serious shenanigans to fix it - which is not something you want to be doing for such an expensive product. It is very lightweight wireless. This isn't a pro for everyone since some people enjoy heavier or middle weight mice more and that is fine. If you are looking for ultra light mice though, especially in wireless, this weight is impossible to beat for now. Somewhere around 45g weight for the medium.

Moving onto today and it's still mostly the same but the button wobble got a bit worse. I ended up having to do some mods to maintain it in a better state, but that led to its own issues (see Mods section for more details). First I will start with the positives of this mouse and get to the long list of gripes and shortcomings of it later. The MM71o came in with a good original shape in the sea of shape clones.

The lightest mouse from Razer, the Viper Mini, is a mouse that doesn’t rely on the honeycomb pattern to achieve its lightweight.
