Tequila used to be made with something called the ancient Tahona process, wherein heartless tequila distillers force a donkey to drag a massive volcanic stone over agave hearts prior to cooking and distilling them. (We assume that donkey hates his life.) Patrón still goes old-school, although they give the donkeys a break and use machinery to drag massive, specially sculpted stones across their agave hearts, yielding a unique vegetal taste that they then mix with a portion of citrusy tequila made with the modern Roller Mill method. You can expect an equally good tequila inside. The limited-edition tequila spends up to seven years aging in ex-sherry, French, and American oak casks, which lends an incredible plethora of flavors: orange and raisins, laced with cooked agave and honey. 6. Relish the aroma of a rich Bordeaux wine intermingled with agave, passion fruit, and oak. On The Palate Last on the list is Patron Citronge Mango (can you tell we’re huge fans of their liqueurs?). This liqueur is made with the brand’s silver tequila, blended with natural mango flavor.
