The Shinco portable dehumidifiers are stand-alone dehumidifiers. They are not attached or mounted to the wall. They can be easily moved. They could be lightweight and easy to carry or come with a handle and wheels to move them around. The unit is controlled from the top touch panel which includes a small LED display. It is very intuitive and easy to use. In addition, you will be shown the current humidity level of the room by means of a numeric indicator light located on the front panel of the device. I am very impressed with this dehumidifier, it is lightweight and easy to carry, when turned on it isn’t noisy (makes a quiet, low hum, quieter than a fan). Construction looks strong and sturdy, comes with an instruction manual and it is very easy to operate (plug it in, turn it on). We bought this dehumidifier for our basement – about 1100 square feet, open space – it’s been humming along essentially full-time ever since, easily keeping the relative humidity in the 50% range. My bedroom is in this open basement space, and I actually find its QUIET hum soothing, because I know it’s dutifully at work keeping my air comfortable. I have a smaller 1920s house on a pier and crawl foundation in Florida and humidity has always been an issue during the “in between seasons” when the A/C is not running. I bought this and use the drain hose to the outside. It has done the job, bringing the humidity from the high 60s to the high 50s. The tank is somewhat small, but that is my only complaint. Quiet and compact.

We had plenty of warm days and judging by its output this dehumidifier does indeed remove 40 pints of moisture per day. My only problem was that there was obviously way more moisture to be removed as it ran constantly. It could never get the humidity down below 60%. This was not the machine’s fault. It is quiet and the humidistat and thermometer built into the display are precisely accurate. In late fall it was easily able to drop the humidity under 60% and the humidistat started it up and cut it off as needed. Impact on my electric bill was negligible. First, try sourcing parts from the manufacturer of your dehumidifier. They should be able to sell you the parts, or put you in touch with someone who can.
