About this deal

The news from the north is rather grim. There is an army massing under the new king of Feal. They are heading toward Darien, the city of the Twelve families, and he demands either allegiance, or war. Tellius, who is the Speaker to the Council, knows that the divided city is never going to stand up against such a horrible enemy. But he does have a plan. Amongst old feuds, it is here that a plot is hatched to murder a king, which is going to summon strangers to the city. Like Arthur (a boy that is unable to speak), Daw Threefold (a gambler and cynical chancer), Elias Post (a hunter), Tellius (an old swordsman banished from his home). There’s also Vic Deeds (who doesn’t feel guilt) and Nancy (who may just be the undoing of everybody). Together with his greatest rival, mark Antony, Octavian will stop at nothing to avenge his father’s death. The Conqueror Series Genghis: Birth of an Empire Temujin, the son of Khan, was raised in a clan of hunters who migrated across the rugged lands.

The armies of Rome are forced to fight against each other lead by two greatest generals the empire has ever had. Julius will be closing on to his destiny which will be determined by two things; his best friend Marcus Brutus and Cleopatra, an Egyptian queen who will bear his son… The Blood of GodsDarien is clearly meant to be the first in a series and not a stand-alone. What this means is that the book introduces the reader to people and places that are going to develop over more than one book. The plan at present is for a trilogy. In 2010, there was media coverage toward a proposed epic film Emperor: Young Caesar to be about the early life of Julius Caesar covering the years from 92 BC to 71 BC and based on the first two novels of Iggulden's Emperor series, The Gates of Rome and The Death of Kings. Exclusive Media Group hired Burr Steers to direct after they had an adaptation penned by William Broyles and Stephen Harrigan. Empire of Salt - Book Series In Order

Whilst Conn’s homage to his hero David Gemmell is clear throughout, this is not a typical medieval-esque Fantasy. Admittedly Darien is a city in a world with a long and rich history, some of which we read of here, and many of the residents of the city live a harsh peasant-like existence, it is a world more akin to the global Empire building of the Mercantile Era, c16-18th century, than most traditional Fantasy novels. This is also shown by presence of guns in this world, something more akin to Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere worlds or even Gemmell’s Jon Shannow than, say, Game of Thrones. It is a violent and treacherous place filled with warriors, spies, magicians and mercenaries. Conn Iggulden is well-known for writing historical fiction books. He was born in 1971 to an English father and an Irish mother. He attended St. Martins School located in Northwood before transferring to Merchant Taylor’s School.

This is the last book in this series. Here, Julius Caesar has been assassinated and a bloody revenge from a mourning nation is bound to be executed. He was killed by one of his most trusted allies. Currently, the self-appointed Liberatores run for refuge in the senate neglecting the power of Caesar’s adopted son, Octavian. Wolf of the Plains (2007, ISBN 978-0-00-720175-4) (titled Genghis: Birth of an Empire 2010, ISBN 978-0-385-34421-0) Darien” is the first novel in the “Empire of Salt” series and was released in the year 2017. One throne, and twelve families who each race for a throne that is soon going to be made vacant, either by civil war or murder. Welcome to the Empire of Salt. Darien stands right at the tired end of a golden age. Twelve families keep the peace with artefacts and soldiers, memories and spies, and cling to a peace the crumbles and shifts. The people in the city endure what they can’t change. Fleming, Mike Jr. (26 May 2010). "Burr Steers To Direct Julius Caesar Film Based on Conn Iggulden Novels". Deadline Hollywood . Retrieved 26 June 2013. Iggulden released a four-book series, the Wars of the Roses series, [7] starting with Stormbird in 2013, Margaret of Anjou [8] (called Trinity in the United Kingdom) in 2014, Bloodline [9] in 2015, and Ravenspur [10] in 2016.

Harry Hodges (4 October 2013). "War of the Roses: Stormbird by Conn Iggulden – review". Daily Express . Retrieved 22 January 2015. Currently, he lives in Hertfordshire, England. He is married and is a father of four. He has also written poems and short novels. He has written amazing Book Series such as Conqueror. Emperor, Wars of the Roses and Dangerous Books for Boys. The Gates of RomeIt is in the second part of the book where the pace steps up a gear as these characters begin to connect together and affect each other. In the city of Darien, the perspective widens so that the politics of the Empire becomes paramount. The geopolitical situation is that there are twelve families ruling under a King, creating a complex political environment which though briefly glimpsed, seems reminiscent of Queen Elizabeth’s court or the Borgias. The King himself is a weak one, placed there by the leading Family for presentation purposes rather than actual leadership, which means that the lesser Families are manoeuvring for new positions of power. As a result, a plot is hatched which leads to an assassination attempt on King Johannes and events that usher in an impressively fast and rather violent last part of the book. Darien: Empire of Salt uses his considerable writing skills and historical knowledge to venture into a genre he has always considered a personal favourite: Fantasy. Iggulden's debut book was The Gates of Rome, the first in a currently five-part series entitled Emperor. The series is based around the life of Julius Caesar, from childhood ( The Gates of Rome) to his eventual betrayal and death ( The Gods of War). The film option has been sold to Spitfire Productions (an Intermedia company).
