About this deal

There’s one thing worth noting is that the Quechua Air Seconds and the Genus 400 don’t have side doors, the other three have. This may not be that big of an issue, but bear in mind that it also affects your ability to create a steady draught across the tent in warmer weather. Bedrooms The Berghaus Air 4 and the Quechua Air Seconds 4.1 has some really nice features like the rain-brow over the side door. The most user-friendly small family air tent A bigger uncle, the Vango Odyssey Air 400; or the Odyssey Air 500are for those who need a bit more space for their sleeping area; and for those who want impressive stability and weather resilience. The Odysseys have both: thanks to their inner tension system they can withstand winds up to 70mph. Besides the large mesh door panel, the sunlight can get in through two PVC see-through windows; however, these do not open.

As for other products within the Eurohike Air range ie accessories, replacement parts; there are a few choices. Of course, you can buy air tubes and valves in case something goes wrong, however in case a beam leaks air it most likely can be mended temporarily by using the repair kit that is included with the Air 400.The Berghaus Air 4 costs more than double of the cheapest 4-person air tents on this list, so I am eager to find out if the double-price is justified. Size Quechua are generally good with accessories, upgrades and replacement parts. The Air Seconds 4.1 seems to be the exemption, as I could not find a matching footprint for this tent. The Eurohike Genus 400 comes in a 73 x 35 x 28cm carrybag. The pump is included in the bag, which weighs just under 10 kgs without the pump. The are 3 air beams to inflate, the beams inflate separately. If you wanted to save some time, you could invest in an electric pump, such as this one by Kampa that I can fully recommend – you just set the psi and watch the tent inflating. There are good reports on the wind-stability of the Eurohike Genus 400; however, there are always a lot of other factors that can affect the stability of the tent in high winds, not just the tent itself. The airbeams are robust yet flexible, and the Genus 400 does not have big flat surfaces where wind-drag could become an issue.

From that respect, the Genus 400 is the lightest under 10 kgs, while the others weigh around 15 kilos. So there is not a big difference, they are all pretty easy to handle and carry, they all come in a carrybag. Everything that you buy on top of the tent itself – carpet, footprint etc. – will come on top of this. You probably ask why the Genus 400 is so lightweight: well, that’s down to the weight of the fabrics used. The Genus 400 has a thinner, lighter flysheet material than the others. Pitching Where to buy the Pavillo Sierra Ridge: Sierra Ridge PRO Air 4 also: Sierra Ridge 4 Air Detailed comparison of entry level small family air tents Price On the other hand, if anything goes wrong, it is very likely you will find spare parts for the Air Seconds 4.1; anything from flysheet, groundsheet and bedroom etc. The small family air tent with the most upgrades available; It’s getting a bit difficult here, as the Eurohike Air 400 and the Berghaus Air 4 play slightly above the league of the rest. These two have sewn-in groundsheets, while the others have loose that are secured to the flysheet by velcro. Loose groundsheet vs sewn-in groundsheet All five are pretty similar in size. You can’t expect huge space at this price range, what’s more important for me is that there’s actually space for 4 people, if the tent is sold as a 4-person tent.A single large bedroom is suitable for sleeping up to 4 people, or 2 people with a degree of luxury. The living area is large enough for a camp table and chairs, and makes an ideal place to wait out any unexpected summer showers. The Eurohike Genus 400 Air Tent is a 4 person tent that offers incredible value and makes family camping a breeze. As you enter the tent, you find approximately 6 sqm living area. It is big enough for two camping chairs and a smaller camping table, while you can still maintain comfortable access to the rooms and have some gear stored as well. In terms of ‘living room size’ it is very decent – some much more expensive 4-person tents have smaller living room (see this post here for more than one example: 4-Person Air Tents (Mid-range)) ; however, the porch area is minimal. cms is not a lot, there are 4-person tents that give you a bit more space (up to 75cm for each), but sadly, 60 cm per head is not unusual… The bedrooms are 210cms long and 120cm wide, leaving a 60cm wide sleeping area for everyone. This is sadly not enough to squeeze two normal size double beds inside, but you should be alright with the compact ones like the CampingAZ Compact Inflatable Double Bed.

The scoring is very straightforward: I review and rank the air tents under every section and each get a point or points according to their rank. The overall winner is the one with the least points. I compared them in 5 categories; The tent is secured to the ground by steel pegs and high visibility (red) guy lines that have a high and a low connection point on the air beams. Doors
