Inside, it’s the same classic triple-layer bar we’ve come to know and love from Grenade. The base is soft and slightly chewy – a nice chocolate flavour with a hint of mint. I have to say, the overall flavour is similar to that of the OG bar– maybe a little too familiar for some – probably owing to the caramel layer. There is some peanut flavour, but it’s much gentler than I, and other peanut lovers like me, would perhaps have liked. The best part by far is the vanilla creme layer. It’s amazingly close to the real thing and the vanilla sweetness perfectly complements the richness of the cocoa base. There was a time, a dark time, when I was a PB&J hater. Thankfully, I’ve since recognised the error of my ways and have become a COMMITTED lover (peanut butter first, strawberry jam ALWAYS).

Like most of the other, newer flavours, at 226 this bar has a few more calories than the older range. The carbs are also a little higher at 20g, but this is matched by Grenade’s standard 20g of protein. What’s more, it manages to maintain Grenade’s usual, pretty solid macros – 21g protein, 20g carbs, 10g fat and just 1g of sugar, all for 233 kcal. Actual magic! In many ways this bar is similar to the Caramel Chaos – Obviously, the chocolate coating and the texture are exactly alike, but the flavour is overall pretty similar too if I’m honest. I think I’d have to eat them one after the other to really distinguish between them. If you’ve missed Grenade’s chocolate offerings, or if you’re just on the hunt for something classic yet sophisticated, this is the bar for you. This bar should be every chocoholic’s dream, but I can’t help thinking how different it can realistically be from the Fudge Brownie flavour… Recently, Grenade have been nailing their flavours. White Chocolate Salted Peanut, Dark Chocolate Raspberry, and Chocolate Chip Salted Caramel have all been up there with the best of them, but I’ll admit I was skeptical about this one. Bang on. The base is the same nougat-like centre as the rest of the bars but with a soft peanut flavour in this case. It’s certainly not a full-on peanut flavour, but it is enough to blend well with the chocolate and the peanut chunks add some extra flavour and crunch. In terms of flavour, the white chocolate is more of a hint, but this is strawberry ice cream, so what did we expect?

It’s a nice, chocolate-y bar but it’s interesting that Grenade decided to come out with this when their Fudge Brownie bar is such a classic. It is important to understand that these bars are NOT SUITABLE for vegetarians. This is because they contain hydrolysed beef gelatin. Carb Killa bars are also NOT GLUTEN FREE. In 2015, Grenade launched their first Carb Killa bar (Caramel Chaos) and since then the range has kept on growing. Like the White Chocolate Salted Peanut, this flavour contains slightly more calories than the earlier bars – 233 calories in this one – and they also contain slightly less protein – 20g compared to 22g in some of the others. Before we start, I will say it smells amazing – very strong strawberry and buttery (honestly) white chocolate.
