Other than the intense angst that is this entire story, I really didn't feel connected to the story or the characters. I think my 2 main emotions throughout were anger and frustration - both directed *mostly* to Mo Xi and all the other nobles who dared opened their mouths. He doesn't remember who he is, and according to the healers' diagnosis, he sees himself as a strong and mighty wolf. When we get to the second half of Yu Wu, we start experiencing one plot twist after another, and it doesn't stop until the end. The amount of revelations grows absolutely ridiculous in the last 30-40 chapters. There are like 10 to 15 plot twists every chapter, and I'm not exaggerating. At a certain point I grew numb to all this and started treating the novel as a comedy. At another point I had to take a piece of paper and try to figure out the family tree. By the end there remained like one character from the cast who wasn't directly involved in some sort of a conspiracy. Li Wei thought that if Xihe-jun really was secretly meeting up with a maiden, she had to be a calamitous beauty of prodigious talents. Admittedly, 2ha and Yu Wu are set in the same universe, which was properly explained in 2ha already, so the author dindn't have a need to go into the world's details in Yu Wu. And, considering how much more popular 2ha is, most people who read Yu Wu have previously read 2ha and are acquainted with the world's intricacies. But still, it makes Yu Wu less detailed.I loved the complete trust and faith GM and MX had in each other. Even after GM's betrayal, MX still went to the emperor and pleaded for GM's remaining 30,000 troops to be given to his care and was willing to take the heavenly oath to make it happen. Now that's faith. And even though there were periods of the story where GM really didn't remember anything, but he held onto the brocade bag MX gave him and knew it was from an important person. Even GM's most heinous action against MX of stabbing him at the battle of Dongting, turns out it was only because he knew the emperor had fed MX a heart controlling pill and he used stabbing him as a cover to remove the pill while MX was unconscious. Yu Wu also had simillar plot points, but the details dindn't feel... alive? And they didn't bring that much to the story. Before you become the master of Wangshu Manor, you won’t be able to speak of any of the secrets you hear today.”
