While this still isn’t enough for a deep clean, it’s perfectly acceptable for the types of cleaning jobs the Shark is designed to handle.
It’s the perfect size for the job at hand too, collecting a wider surface area than the crevice tool without becoming unwieldy or imprecise. On the carpet I captured 49g of it on a single pass, leaving some powdery residue behind but nothing that the included motorised pet tool couldn’t handle.
We still think the Dyson V7 Trigger has better performance, but it’s considerably more expensive – and there’s not a huge difference in cleaning power.
If you’re regularly tackling troublesome or ingrained dirt then this might mean it’s not the cleaner for you, but the motorised head should be able to help loosen most dirt enough to get it freed up and collected. The overall ease of use score takes account of the manoeuvrability, ease of maintenance and versatility of each machine. Finally, reinstall the filter frame into the dust cup, and reattach the canister section to the vacuum body. The provided tool is too short to get between seats and other awkward locations – especially as the vacuum itself is quite large and rigid – making it difficult to give the car a full clean.
It doesn’t come with many advanced features and it’s not the most convenient handheld, but when it comes to cleaning performance we think it’s amongst the best around.
The bin mechanism isn’t the smoothest when you do need to empty it though, and we often needed to use both hands to help the bin to open. In particular, we found that the pet tool makes it much more effective at cleaning carpets, sofas, and rugs than many other handheld models. There’s a good mix of tools for picking up spills from all sorts of places, including work surfaces, hard floors, and furniture.
