Spine-tingling, atmospheric, sexy, and macabre, Gothikana is gothic romance and dark academia in its finest form. Overall I found pacing to be poor, the romance was extremely underdeveloped, and while the plot maybe had some interesting potential at its foundation, it all just completely falls apart.

I could have probably binged this entire book in one night but I had to force myself to read it slowly because I truly did not want it to end.I swear to God, I have never read the words maxi skirt or fishtail braid more in my entire life than I did over the course of this single book.
I loved the world building in this dark academia environment, the story kept me on my toes, whenever I thought about something it was the other way around. Corvina doesn’t expect to feel so drawn to Vad Deverell, but she knows that there is something more to him than meets the eye.We would like to offer you a full scholarship to our associate undergraduate course at Verenmore, a two-year program beginning January 5th. She was quieter usually, although she didn’t know if that was a natural tendency or a lack of someone to talk to. It's actually frustrating the hell out of me tbh cus now I have to fill the voids of unanswered things myself. I loved how eerie and paranormal the scenes were in this, so descriptive and well written, it makes you feel as if you are right there beside the characters.
They taught them to be afraid of her mother, too—the odd lady with odd eyes who lived at the edge of the town near the woods. When she receives the admission letter from the mysterious University of Verenmore, she accepts it as a sign from the universe. It made me hate the second part of this story especially when the characters full out said that some things don't have or need answers.
Vad…the devil of Verenmore is everything we love in a morally grey character: mysterious, attractive, smart and passionate. For example, there’s a sort of on-going thread regarding Covina’s mother’s mental health, and whether Covina herself is suffering from the same illness or legitimately supernaturally attuned. If you are looking for a dark, searing and raw romance, with a hypnotising original love story, this book is for you. In the beginning, I found Vad kinda fun and fresh, they gave me YA feels with the setup of the gothic scenery but they literally went from 0-100. The story focuses on some mysterious events that have happened at Verenmore university over the last century.
