GelTears is a clear colourless liquid gel and contains a lubricant that is used as a substitute for natural tears. The eye drops can occasionally cause mild eye irritation, but this usually soon passes and not everyone will experience it. It is a very common cause of red, burning, dry, watery, gritty eyes and contributes to infections such as repeated lid styes and cysts. The carbomer in GelTears increases the thickness of the gel which assists the gel in remaining in contact with the eye for a longer period of time.
