About this deal

Plus it obviously sticks to the paper like a mf which creates those beautiful hairlines we collectors love so much. Maybe thats because that's a LoFi record and it's difficult to make a deep sound when you making that kind of music. I got this in hopes of upgrading my copy of Ballads1 because that one is also shit, but now I got two heaps of shit.

Joji – Ballads 1 (2021, Clear, Vinyl) - Discogs

My first copy of this pressing was solid orange rather than translucent orange and covered in black marks and scratches. Those f*in papersleeves are loaded with so much static, you expect to get electrocuted when trying to get the record out for the first time. In 2022, following on the heels of the 2X Platinum single “Glimpse of Us”, Joji released his latest album SMITHEREENS, which expands on the powerful emotions of the breakout hit. Really wanted to like this but the sound in this is not good, the tracks that have deep base don’t sound great and my copy skips on the first track fresh out of the wrapping. The album is mostly self-produced, with notable collaborations from producers Shlohmo, Clams Casino, Thundercat, RL Grime, Patrick Wimberly, and Jam City. Overall this is a very mid level in terms of pressing quality, as for the music (not the sound of this record) Joji is a great artist. An Album that has heavy bass and well, when it comes to the album (If you're here I guess you like it, right? As for common Urban Outfitters flaws there aren't many on this release expect on Track 3: "Test Drive" . it's in that kind of lazy black jewel case with no tray artwork at all, and there's no tracklist anywhere on the pressing.

I mainly purchased this record because 1) I was a Filthy Frank fan, 2) the Clams Casino and Shlohmo-produced tracks, and 3) SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK DUUUHHHHH! One of the only times I heard a few popping sounds but it wasn't present throughout the whole track only in the very beginning and end.

What I will never understand is why the sleeves with the plastic inner lining don't become industry-standard. He has a total vision for his work, not just in the writ- ing and producing of his music, but artwork, videos, merch, and live performances as well. First off, how's the sound quality on this pressing because I remember the clear pressing being abysmal. but to be honest, I fell in love with it, my copy is almost dead silence and the sound is really good. On the album, Billboard raved, “Anyone familiar with Joji’s dulcet tones and emotionally revealing lyricism could have predicted that he’d become a solo star.
