I think my favorite character is Grandpa, who Humza has to learn to appreciate and not just see as an old almost dead guy and Humza’s dad who exaggerates everything and takes his cricket very seriously. We’ve re-named Puffin Virtually Live so that it’s easier for new teachers to discover it as part of Puffin Schools and to acknowledge that the show now premieres on show day, rather than being streamed live. The illustrations by Aleksei Bitskoff are great too and further make it a brilliant book for reluctant readers. I kind of like that they are Muslim kids and it appeals to a larger audience, sure something praying or something at some point might have been nice, but it isn’t a book that you’d be expecting spiritual nuggets from, so it is ok. Although I hadn't read the first book in this series, this didn't matter at all; however, I will definitely read Little Badman and the Invasion of the Killer Aunties now too.

As such, it comes heartily recommended for 8+ year-olds who want to be wildly entertained by a cracking lead character, with sweetness coming courtesy of the theme of friendship, alongside the eponymous aunties’ sugary snacks. This book would be a great addition to the school library and UKS2 classrooms, particularly in a time when we need more diversity on the shelves.Humza Arshad is the first British YouTuber to have his own scripted comedy series on BBC Three in the mockumentary series Coconut.
