About this deal

I think my favorite character is Grandpa, who Humza has to learn to appreciate and not just see as an old almost dead guy and Humza’s dad who exaggerates everything and takes his cricket very seriously. We’ve re-named Puffin Virtually Live so that it’s easier for new teachers to discover it as part of Puffin Schools and to acknowledge that the show now premieres on show day, rather than being streamed live. The illustrations by Aleksei Bitskoff are great too and further make it a brilliant book for reluctant readers. I kind of like that they are Muslim kids and it appeals to a larger audience, sure something praying or something at some point might have been nice, but it isn’t a book that you’d be expecting spiritual nuggets from, so it is ok. Although I hadn't read the first book in this series, this didn't matter at all; however, I will definitely read Little Badman and the Invasion of the Killer Aunties now too.

As such, it comes heartily recommended for 8+ year-olds who want to be wildly entertained by a cracking lead character, with sweetness coming courtesy of the theme of friendship, alongside the eponymous aunties’ sugary snacks. This book would be a great addition to the school library and UKS2 classrooms, particularly in a time when we need more diversity on the shelves.Humza Arshad is the first British YouTuber to have his own scripted comedy series on BBC Three in the mockumentary series Coconut.

Little Badman and the Time-travelling Teacher of Doom Little Badman and the Time-travelling Teacher of Doom

Secret meetings in supermarkets, teachers and grandpa vanishing, and Humza seeing a giant slug coming out of the substitute librarian, means that Little Badman is going to have to run away from cricket practice, not get sent in a crate to Pakistan, face his stage fright, and save the day from the aliens taking over the aunties. Humza (aka Little Badman) is an 11 year old boy who fancies himself as a rapper and, after saving the world from aliens in the first book, he is now intent on becoming a proper secret agent for 'The Agency'.On 9 and 10 July 2013, he was involved in a live shows of Smokey's Barbers at the Pavilion Theatre, Festival Square for the Manchester International Festival. What effect do you think not seeing someone a bit like you in a book had on your reading as a child? Among all the many laughs in this book, there's some quite serious reflection on parenting and how to be true to yourself.

Ultimately we want it to be a fun, silly, adventure story but yes it's always good to get in some messages to kids about being yourself, following your passions, family values and respecting your elders. On 28 March 2011, Arshad was nominated in the categories for comedy and entertainment at the third annual Shorty Awards for social media at The Times Center, New York City. As other teachers start to disappear, with more Aunties appearing in their place, Humza knows something isn't right. However, Humza and his friend Umer and Wendy realise that something is not quite right so they band together to get to the bottom of this mystery.
