My favourite line totally deserves a mention: 'The rice plants were so green it almost made you want to sneeze. Similarly to almost everything that Miyazaki has been involved with before; the piece offers us a series of intricate story lines, breathtaking visuals, memorable characters and a general approach to bold, imaginative, unique and utterly compelling family entertainment that will almost certainly appeal to anyone, at any age. When two girls move to the country to be near their ailing mother, they have adventures with the wonderous forest spirits who live nearby. Audiences in the circle will be seated with an empty row in front and behind and with one empty seat between parties. Mostly I loved this because I bought it to read with my two-and-a-half year-old kiddo, and he loved it, and we read the entire thing in almost one sitting.Don't get me wrong, there is that magical feel of adventure with Totoro and company but the struggles of country living, mixed with school, medical fees and work commutes plays out more strongly here. She is a very open-minded person and possess the innocence of children as shown by her quick acceptance of Totoro and her ability to see it. I remember being so obsessed with this movie growing up that I watched the cd i owned daily, until the tragic day i broke part 1 (there were 2 discs).

Totoro takes us into a magical world where he invites the reader to remember what it was like to be a child again with all it's wonder and imagination.
