About this deal

Numicon is often taught in primary schools as a whole-school programme, meaning it is their main way of teaching maths. These activities use resources from the 1st Steps with Numicon at Home Kit, but if you don’t own the kit you can still follow along with these free cut-out Numicon shapes.

My little girl loves singing along to the songs in the Numicon At Home kit and holding up her fingers to count along! The kit includes dice, 60 coloured counters, 21 numeral cards, 30 shapes, a large table-top number line, and more.Numicon embodies the primary mathematics curriculum with a mixture of problem-solving, reasoning and conversation. Welcome to all those who have bought a Numicon at Home First Steps Kit, a Next Steps Kit or want to know more about them. Model the language you want your child to use during this activity, such as more, less, add, fit, and same. Our numicon resources are great for teaching about place value, and practising addition, subtraction and multiplication.

Top up on value-for-money apparatus packs and the accompanying Numicon teaching guides to ensure your school gets the most from your manipulatives.Inside the kit you’ll find an activity book with pictures and step-by-step guidance to show you what to do. This kit provides all you need to support and develop your child’s maths learning, through carefully designed activities and games you will enjoy doing together. Oxford Owl has been created by Oxford University Press to support children’s learning both at home and at school. This thick number track made from reinforced card can be used as a number line or number square, in a wide range of activities and games to help children work with numbers 1 to 100. Especially created for use at home, Homework Activities Intervention Resource kit supports children’s mathematical development and learning outside of school.

Spend time with your pre-schooler or 4-year-old playing the games in this kit together, to give their maths learning the right start. This apparatus pack is suitable for teaching Number, Pattern and Calculating and Geometry, Measurement and Statistics. e with 9 and 10, have them on one side so the other half of the page can be used to print something else. Designed to work both brilliantly on its own and as a natural progression from the First Steps Kit, the activities and apparatus here will build your child’s understanding of numbers to 100 and their ability to use and talk about them with confidence. Later on, your child will be able to see more complex mathematical ideas, like how two fours make eight, three twos make six, and so on.The durable apparatus can be used flexibly to see your pupils through from EYFS to bridging the gap at KS3. For example, if the original shape had a value of 6 and you held your finger over a hole, your child would need to find a shape with a value of 5. My first activity to introduce subtraction involved using a ‘feely bag’ (an big bag that you can’t see through). As you build up your collection of Numicon apparatus, you unlock new ways for your child to learn and explore maths ideas.

These activities are for children who know the Numicon shapes by number without needing to count the holes. Hi, I really wanted to use this resource to represent making doubles, but I was unable to copy individual parts of the download and paste them into my smart presentation.See if your child can find different combinations of pieces to make the same shape stacking them on top of the previous combinations. These printable Counting Numicon Shapes worksheets are perfect to use to help children with their counting skills and begin to recognise the relationship between numbers. Based on a concrete-pictorial-abstract approach, Numicon uses structured imagery and apparatus to help children explore and understand mathematical concepts.
