About this deal

This went on longer than I intended but for when you want to be the cool mom/dad/aunt/uncle; for the moments when you just want to read and not be disappointed; or for that time when you just want to see the word “monkey-handled”… this does the job wonderfully.

Its appeal lies in its details, which show an irrepressible imagination, much like that of a wide-eyed child explorer who can't help looking at the world and wondering "what if … ? Lovely storyline that appeals to all readers and interests and characters that you can't help but build a bond with. The book is short, so I don't need to say much more about the plot except that it is perfectly paced. Dave McKean, Chris Riddell and Jim Kay have all done wonderful work in this field, designing illustrated novels of great beauty and appeal. Oliver gives the seawig a name, Cliff, and concocts a plan with Iris to get Cliff the best wig for the contest.A delightfully told, beautiful tale, of nautical hairdressing, saltwater primates and sarcastic seaweed - this is my kind of book! Philip is best known for his multi award-winning Mortal Engines quartet, which won the Nestlé Children's Book Prize, the Blue Peter Book Award, and the Guardian Children's Book Award. Samaan kastiin nuorilta Poika nimeltä Joulu ja aika lähelle Ada Gootitkin, jotka kuitenkin pelastaa kirjalliset viittaukset. Sarah is immensely proud of Britain's amazing illustrators and how well their pictures tell stories. A seawig is a floating island with the grassy top being its hair and its nose and eyes on the rocks underwater.

But he's actually quite pleased when they realise they are no longer any blank spaces left on the map to explore, and decide to head home to Deepwater Bay, where Oliver can have his own bedroom and go to school.

It effortlessly switches between portrait and landscape formats, and uses double-page spreads to great effect. Oliver ja meriperuukit" on kaikessa älyvapaudessaan ihan vekkuli seikkailu, jolle Sarah McIntyren ilmeikäs kuvitus antaa tarinalle mukavasti lisäpotkua. Culpeper — a near-sighted young mermaid named Iris whose ill-attempted siren song was actually directed at a walrus, and an utterly unremarkable island — a large rock, really — whom Oliver names Cliff. Philip has also written Buster Bayliss, a series for younger readers, and stand alone novels including Here Lies Arthur, which won the Carnegie Medal.

Not only will this book be a favourite of mine for many years to come, it has also changed the way I look at flotsam and jetsam washed up on the beach (great seawig potential) and seaweed fronds, ripe for popping (my chance for a Sea Monkey army of my very own). With a little help from his friends, Oliver navigates this acquatic realm, and finds his way to a resolution that cleverly reconciles home with exploration. He sails out to a lone island and meets an albatross named, "Culpeper," who explains that the islands move. Oliver-nimisen jampan vanhemmat ovat kuuluisia tutkimusmatkailijoita, jotka ovat yhdessä kolunneet kaikki maailman kartoittamattomat kolkat ja kokeneet yhdessä hurjia seikkailuja. Packed with eccentric characters, exciting escapades and plenty of quirky humour, this fun and entertaining adventure will delight both boys and girls. What I really liked about this book, apart from the great imagination behind the rambling islands, was that the humor works so well for both adults and kids. Since I read the digital copy, it took a bit of time for the next page to load since most are heavy on the graphics, but I didn’t mind it much because it allowed me to examine the little quirky details Sarah McIntyre placed in the scenes. Along the way he'll team up with a near-sighted mermaid, help style a sea wig, and take on some meddlesome sea monkeys.

And when you then deploy every element of page design for dramatic effect – typography, white space, even the "bleed" at the margins of the page – you have almost unlimited potential. The myriad of weird and wonderful creatures were really funny and the illustrations fitted them perfectly. The story is about Oliver Crisp, the son of two intrepid explorers who met on top of Mount Everest and haven't stopped exploring since. When Cliff decides to "settle" because Thurlstone stole his wig, Oliver and Iris are desperate to get him to change his mind and not give up. Nyt Oliverin on lähdettävä pelastusretkelle, jonka aikana hän joutuu mitä mielikuvituksellisimpaan seikkailuun, jossa häntä auttavat äreä albatrossi, likinäköinen merenneito Iiris ja saari nimeltä Kari.I loved how while this was action packed and funny it also inspires lessons of hope, friendship, finding strength in the most unexpected places and that bravery doesn’t only come out of exotic adventures, but also in standing up for what you believe in. Mukana muutama nenännostaja-aristokraatti, josta luokkayhteiskunnassa elävät ymmärtävät päivitellä elämän tylyyttä. Vanhemmat havaitsevat kuitenkin riemukseen lähistölle ilmestyneen saaria, ja lähtevät niitä tutkimaan - ja jäävät sille tielleen. inspiring adventure stories, in whose futuristic, post-apocalyptic setting, moving cities trawl the Earth. Throughout the story, the characters deal with their loneliness and desire for friends in different ways, sometimes in positive ways, sometimes not.
