About this deal

I personally found the explanations to still leave a few unanswered questions, but my baby didn't have this issue! If that doesn't work, there may be a network issue, and you can use our self test page to see what's preventing the page from loading.

Ferrie was even careful in his illustration of the atom to make the circle representing electrons to appear noticeably smaller than the protons and neutrons—something that many primary and secondary school books neglect.A very simplified intro to data, computing, and the difference between normal computing and quantum computing. There aren't a ton of books on computers and computing for the youngest kids, though there have been more programming books of late. All three books intricately make use of color, shape, and size and a rhetorical approach to group concepts together and to break down large concepts. Moreover, such science books can serve another pedagogical purpose in their ability to express scientific ideas in a way to accentuate scientific education.

In Ferrie’s Quantum Physics book, for example, in describing the parts of the atom, color is used to obviously link the vocabulary of “proton,” “neutron,” and “electron” to their correlation with the atom as a whole. But mummy loves it, although mummy has many questions that she wishes to ask (but left without answers) after reading this (which might be the whole purpose of this book: triggering passion for a subject and encouraging more questions). will discover the difference between bits and qubits and how quantum computers will change our future. Even the decision to refer to the characters as “Baby” and “Cat” eliminates the need for a random name to associate with the characters and eliminates the definite article to make the sentences simpler to read.I argue that based on considerations of the cognitive requirements of science, use of picturebooks in acquisition of literacy, analysis of visual and linguistic design elements, accuracy of information, and the pre-science and future-looking potential of these books the ostensible purpose lies in encouraging young readers toward science as they mature. Yes, Canadian quantum physicist and university professor Chris Ferrie (who like me received his PhD from the University of Waterloo) in his 2013 (2017 for the second edition) board book Quantum Physics for Babies (and with no help from coauthors in Quantum Physics for Babies either) textually and illustratively provides (not to and for actual infants, not to and for actual babies as the rather gimmicky book titles of the entire Baby University series of board books claim and imply but certainly geared towards young children from about two to five years of age) an accessible (read understandable) introduction to quantum physics through the use of a ball model and then exploring atoms, neutrons, electrons and where they all fit in and around that ball (which is obviously meant to represent an atom). As children’s Shakespeare pushes an audience toward reading Shakespeare as an adult, these science board books prompt the rising generation toward STEM. The choice to use the opposite and complementary red/green for the arrows of net force further helps link the relationship of the concepts. Unlike Ferrie’s books though, Spiro’s book uses an analogy to simplify the quantum physics thought experiment—Schrödinger’s cat.

Spiro’s book only really incorporates the scientific principle at the end, but Ferrie’s books present new words throughout the board books. The fourth condition is met in that the books all make use of a variety of images and artistic design elements to support the linguistic text. In this way, the science board books are adaptations, but they are not as restricted into form, plot, or style as traditional adaptations are in their nature of reflecting a more distinctive hypotext. The electrons are also shown this way, with the word written in the same green as the circles orbiting the atom (8).

We understand that not everyone can donate right now, but if you can afford to contribute, we promise it will be put to good use.

Namely, Spiro’s book uses medium purple and dark orange, the only bold colors used in the book, to emphasize the dichotomy of Schrodinger’s cat.
