About this deal

We like a router that’s easy to install, simple to configure and one that’s easy to tinker with for users who like to personalise settings inside a router’s operating system. Its tower-based chassis, with internal antennae, still can’t compete with glitzy RGB-decorated rivals, but it doesn’t take up much room and won’t blight most living spaces.

It is a tri-band Wi-Fi 6 router, with the total theoretical bandwidth split as follows: 600 Mbps for its 2.band is the way to go, considering using smart Wi-Fi devices will adversely affect your network, more on that in this post. In between the two, we have the following DFS channels: 52, 56, 60, 64, 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128, 132, 136, 140, and 144. The RT6600ax speeds seem to be absent from 6E reviews even though there’s a lot of routers in those benchmarks.

External SSDs are becoming more popular and accessible, and Kingston is a leading brand in this field. This is the third router we've seen from Synology, replacing the RT2600ac and introducing some new features, namely support for the 5. Like the RT6600ax and other top Wi-Fi 6 routers, the WRX560 can access the less-crowded 160MHz spectrum (except in Canada and Australia) and the 5.It's an excellent Wi-Fi 6 router that meets or exceeds what you'd expect from Synology, with similarly well-designed firmware, a rich feature set, and stellar reliability. I went with the Asus GT-AXE16000 to replace the Synology system, and I am getting another strong Asus AXE router for wired 2.

I have an RT2600ac that has worked very well for me for years that I’m planning to give to my parents. Most ISPs provide a standard or generic broadband, others might have some specific settings or requirements.Synology so far only has the MR2200ac mesh router available, but my best guess is that it will soon release a WiFi 6 compatible model. I apologize that I can’t provide more specific information about using the RT6600ax alone, other than that it definitely did better than the RT2600ac, but I mainly just wanted to emphasize that mesh in general can definitely provide noticeable benefit to a 1000 square feet of home. For causal network storage needs, just get a nice, spacious portable SSD (or hard drive), and you're all set. I didn’t fully test the RT6600ax by itself, but using the RT6600ax with all three of my other Synology routers in mesh (wired to the RT2600ac, then wireless to the 2xMR2200ac) ran very noticeably better than my current setup. The only other quirk of the SRM operating system I didn’t like was an occasional warning that Ethernet speeds were 100Mbps instead of the 1Gbps they should be registering at.

One-way firewall rules allow you to conveniently manage these sensitive devices without compromising security, while independent traffic control rules ensure that surveillance tasks never get interrupted or slowed down. Will the RT6600 improve my 5Ghz signal strength to the Nest Cams, or should I consider switching all of the Nest Cams to the 2. As mentioned above, SRM allows the additional app to run within the router, and the RT6600ax support seven apps by default. Synology is renowned for the best NAS enclosures the company produces, but it also makes some routers on the side, and the Synology RT6600ax is the latest networking tool. The wider the width, the fewer channels you can get out of the frequency -- the entire band is only so wide.I’d stay with the same hardware in your case or add another MR2200ac if you need to extend the coverage. I was able to transfer a 15GB file in two minutes and 17 seconds, and the only hiccup was minor input latency for internet-connected things like Office 365 and the browser address bar.
