About this deal

Craven wisely lets the dialogue deliver the irony and laughs, while his expert framing and judiciously controlled editing provide the scares. The first Scream took 1996 audiences by storm and ushered in a whole new wave of self-aware and intentionally ironic horror films.

film, in some places a carbon copy, in some ways its own entity, but all of that plays into the plot. Their chemistry is immense, their interplay easy and spiky, their romance surprisingly cute and realistic (unsurprisingly given Arquette and Cox fell in love thanks to these two characters) and even after over two decades of similar characters from thousands of similar films, this group stick in our collective conscience. Sadly, the Blu-ray from Lionsgate arrives with a disappointing video presentation that's ruined by noticeable edge enhancement. Showing plenty of pride in their work together, they also share their thoughts on the film and how each impacted the script during production. Motion looked great and with no instances of any compression issues such as frozen grain, this looks like the image was transferred to disc really quite well.Paramount Home Media Distribution has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray Wes Craven's Scream 2 (1997), starring David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Jamie Kennedy. However, depending on your own kit, this may not be the case – some have mentioned the DV grade giving a much darker image than the HDR10 one but that wasn’t experienced on this reviewer’s equipment. No outlandish fashions, no garish soundtrack choices, no reliance on horrible special effects, the film looks as fresh as it feels. Scream's artful sound design capitalizes on every tried and true amped up effect in the horror film canon, and it's brilliantly delivered on this excellent lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.

Spanish tracks and a host of other stereo soundtracks, together with a huge range of subtitle options.Aside from a few exceptions, the genre was pretty much limping along in a daze to its eventual death: a painfully slow final breath instead of a quick throat slash.

Updated daily and in real-time, we track all high-def disc news and release dates, and review the latest disc titles. Somehow it's even scarier when you know, or at least suspect, what's coming, and Scream manages to play up those self-aware fears, momentarily discount them, and then deliver a killer blow just a beat or two later. These are some of the best executed horror set pieces of the last thirty years and while most films are lucky to have one, Scream 2 just keeps delivering them, one after another. The rightly celebrated and bravura opening sequence is still one of horror’s most effective cinematic set pieces because Craven not just knows inherently how to construct it, but because his cast and even those at the studio trust implicitly his background and his experience to make it work.Even though it appears likely struck from the same print used for the DVD, the high-def transfer is a definite improvement, with better clarity and resolution. At startup, fans can enjoy a trailer for the latest installment in the franchise, along with two promos for the 'Saw' series and other Blu-ray releases from the studio. In fact, the specular highlights furnish a narrower, tighter bloom around those aforementioned spots, exposing some of the finer details while various metallic surfaces enjoy a more realistic shine, and the killer's costume sparkles more brilliantly in the light. Celebrating the movie's 25th Anniversary, Paramount Home Entertainment brings Wes Craven's Scream to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray as a standalone, single-disc edition with a flyer for a digital copy.

Still, the inhabitants of this small area feel as if the tragedies are so fresh that they could have occurred yesterday. And although Craven's now-classic flick was far from anything ground-breakingly original and didn't exactly reinvent the wheel, it nonetheless reignited a mass, box-office interest offering a fresh, innovative approach by celebrating the formula and relishing in its own self-awareness. Paramount Pictures and Fathom Events will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Wes Craven's Scream (1996) with two theatrical screenings of the film on October 10th and 11th.

For this UHD edition, the same set of supplements are ported over from the previous Blu-ray release, but they are joined with one new extra as part of a promotion for the new installment. Paramount Pictures UK, in association with Spyglass Media Group, has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Scream (2022).
