And not just little minor things - it was major things like dates, which meant the chronological sequence of events got really confusing before you realised that they were just plain wrong. Berry-Dee describes the circumstances of his meetings with some of the world's most evil men, and reproduces their very words as they describe their crimes and discuss their remorse—or lack of it. Sometimes I felt this book put in too many irrelevant details that meant it required a bit more effort to read. Page 11) The use of the exclamation mark and the need to state how many times with such shock indicates that he believes the act of being sectioned makes a person inherently dangerous.

I don't want to criticise too much as I know Berry-Dee put a lot more effort into his work than this book highlights, but there wasn't enough detailing of his personal time or experience with these killers to really showcase his time with them. In this book he focuses on the most twisted and depraved female killers, mostly American and British. While I understand each chapter should explain a little about the individual and their crimes, I was looking forward to reading new information as a result of the author’s interviews, and observing how the serial killers conducted themselves during conversation. The audiobook itself, which is how I read this book, is okay, although I wish it was done in more of the interview style rather than the narrator just reading off the conversation with the killer - this seems like it could have been possible as there is a section at the beginning of each chapter there is a recording of the killer themselves talking, which was very interesting to listen too - other than that, the audio book was fine, and the voices the narrator used for each of the serial killers were on the ok side to listen to as well. But yes Christopher, surely nobody sleeping rough or stuck in a bad situation can possibly be "decent" deep down.Talking with female serial killers' The first issue is that most of the cases in this book have never had any correspondence with the author. Throughout the book, there are many more instances where he deems it necessary to comment on how attractive he finds a woman.

Because female murderers, and especially serial murderers, are so rare compared with their male counterparts, this new study will surprise as well as shock, particularly in the cases of women like Beverley Allitt, who kill children, and Janie Lou Gibbs, who killed her three sons and a grandson, as well as her husband.

For me those were the only parts worth reading, otherwise I don’t think I’m a fan of how the book is written by the author and although he has many other similar books to these I don’t think ill be picking them up. Secondly, 'Talking [about] Female (Serial) Killers' doesn't appear to have been thoroughly proofread or edited to any great degree.

I originally picked it up because I am very interested in criminology and because female serial killers are so rare that they aren't really talked about often. The most infuriating abuse of proper punctuation, however, is his seemingly arbitrary comma use when it comes to the word aka. Still, it's incredibly interesting to learn about the upbringings of these killers and there was a handful of information regarding the chemical makeup of their brains and DNA that I found very insightful. The biggest issue I have with this is the author's ego is as heavily imprinted into this text as the killers. This book looks at the crimes of these people and gives an account of their perception of what they did and in some cases gives answers to what drove them to commit such heinous crimes. In conclusion, you're probably just better off reading the Wikipedia articles for the women discussed in this book. It’s incredibly badly written, emotional and judgemental language and feels like one long ahotty tabloid piece.

Książka rozpoczyna serię, w której będziemy mogli przeczytać o psychopatach, królowych zbrodni oraz o najgorszych na świecie, także ja jestem bardzo zaciekawiona pozostałymi częściami. It all makes an interesting read, these case studies the author has compiled, as the dots can either be connected or not, and the people behind the masks can be seen. I knew about the serial killers mentioned in this book and of their crimes but reading them in this detail does leave you unsettled. Within these pages, hear from the most notorious murderers such as American serial killer Harvey Louis Carignan, who murdered two women in the early 1970s, and Mary Bundy “The Sunset Slayer” who was convicted of killing several young prostitutes and runaways in Los Angeles in the 1980s.
