It’s a very engaging read and a book you can have even more fun with by acting out monkey sounds and tiger sounds. But to keep ourselves on our toes, we have a rule that author gender is alternated, girl-boy-girl-boy, and the continents always rotated (with occasional glitches). I love Haughton’s use of colour in this book, the monkeys are a contrast to the bright reddish world of their jungle and I love how you can see the expression on their faces which are especially funny when they are wondering if maybe something will be okay.

The book is beautifully illustrated and Dylan loves spotting the tigers and telling the monkeys there IS a tiger there! Three little monkeys are sitting in a tree while their parent tells them to stay where they are, to not go near the mangoes because there are tigers about. I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books.
