He is a father figure to many, as he portrays the image of a confidante and yet also of a strong and trusted colleague. Gives an easy to understand explanation of police jargon and slang and adds useful background to the procedural approach. There are some breathtaking action scenes that show the author's skill with the balance between pace and plot. There are a number of possible scenarios but the case turns more sinister than Grace could ever have imagined.
