About this deal

For narrow gaps stretch the seal: When dealing with narrow gaps don’t try to force the sealant in by pressing hard with the applicator tool. We’ve just had the second warmest September since records began in the UK, and October has been pretty mild too. This has made some difference, as have the thick interlined curtains (bay window) but there is literally wind whistling up into the room and I'm freezing cold.

During this time the floorboards will be at their smallest, meaning that the gaps between them will be at their largest. These specific flooring fillers have been specially designed to give a long-lasting finish and with a good range of colours so you can match it to the shade or stain of your floors. Below we list the branches disappearing and what the alternatives are if you still want face-to-face banking. My other idea was to get hold of some 3-5mm draught excluder foam strip and sticking it to the under side of the skirting board and then when the screws go back in they will pull it down tight and should fill the gaps.

Floorboards are usually secured with long nails or clouts and it is all too easy to damage floorboards as they are lifted, particularly if they are worn. Now you’ve draught proofed your floorboards, or at least have some ideas on how to go about it, why not read our post on fixing a draughty door. Similar to the gap filler seal above, cork strips can be used on hardwood, laminate and engineered floors. Using StopGap to stop the cold air coming through the gaps in your draughty floorboards is the obvious next step. Its flexible properties allow DraughtEx to be applied to a wide range of gaps that will be completely sealed.

You can find out by pulling up the corner of your carpet, or looking for air bricks on the outside of the property at the bottom of the walls – these will signify a suspended timber floor. Someone had already butchered them to fit new heating pipes - all in plastic - no insulation - no pipe clips. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Draught-proofing this area may also be achieved through silicone-based gunned sealants that can equally block the gap between the floor and the wall; again you may need to use a combination of both the wooden beadings and the sealant if the gaps between the floor and the skirting board are particularly large.
