About this deal

He also talks about Ellie's best friends in the most vile way, and gets mad at her for having a conversation with someone who happens to be male at a supermarket. Wilson is great at making realistic characters that you can quickly come to term with, giving realistic reactions to events. Although it was classified as a children's book, because of the content I would say it is a young adult book. As a teenager she started work for a magazine publishing company and then went on to work as a journalist on Jackie magazine (which she was told was named after her! The Illustrated Mum won the Guardian Children’s Fiction Award, the 1999 Children’s Book of the Year at the British Book Awards and was also shortlisted for the 1999 Whitbread Children’s Book Award.

Buckets of tears are wept and hundreds of tissues are sniffled into - can the girls survive these testing times? Of course, Ellie would normally turn to her friends at a time like this but Nadine and Magda are getting frustrated with her. Jacqueline is one of the nation’s favourite authors, and her books are loved and cherished by young readers not only in the UK but all over the world. Ellie is bubbly fun and worries a little about her weight, Magda attracts all the boys and is like a friend you can always rely on and Nadine is full on goth chick and a little selfish and russel is tall dark and handsome like batman and just a tidg of schoolboy. Her books are great at getting children to really think about actions and their consequences, really opening the eyes of children to the world. She rightfully gets upset, Nadine, her other best friend, stays with Magda and tells her she's overreacting, Magda and Russell both worm their ways back into Ellie's life and everyone's back together by the end.

Ellie's romance is on its last legs, thanks to a persistent boyfriend, Nadine is "in love" with a boy she met on the Internet and is planning to go and meet him despite the other girls' insistence that things may not be quite as they seem, and Magda's hamster has died, leaving her less than happy with her friends' response to her grief. Girls in Tears is the fourth and final book that follows teenager Ellie and her two friends, Magda and Nadine. It would have been great to see some development where she finally stood up for herself and moved on. Although, I think the storyline involving Nadine’s online boyfriend is an important one for them to read. Why is goddess Ms Wilson encouraging young girls to get back with boys who patronise them, bully them into things they're not ready for and also make out with their best friends and then claim "but I was drunk" as an excuse.Russell gets more toxic by the page in this book - his infamous trait of constantly pressuring Ellie into sex rears its ugly head and is never treated as disgusting and wrong as it actually is.
